I'm somewhat curious as to how large Skyrim is in geographical measurement vs a major city, like New York. It would certainly put things into perspective, I'd imagine...

Skyrim is like 25 square miles or something.

16 square miles a believe. its actuallly not that big compared to other games like GTA or just cause. farcry 2 was bigger as well if you combined both maps.

It's very slightly smaller than Cyrodill, but all the mountains make it "feel" much bigger and make travel in straight line harder.

not to bust any chops here, but far cry 2 was so empty, all that space was filler, Sure it took a good half hour to get across the beginning map, but with all the guys shooting at you, blowing up any car you get, it took me well over a hour to hoof it. And believe you me, I seen every inch of that map twice, and you know what? It was a lot of dirt and a lot of Africans who's shirts must be made of Kevlar. Empty... But yes far cry 2 was bigger, but please please please do not let that be a measure of value.

Oblivion was about 42 km². I think Skyrim is about 35 km². This would be around 13,5 square miles.

In comparision to New York this would be Manhattan south of the Central Park (I think).
