Any ideas again? How do I lock my fps for a good action on screen?

Uh, you can always put your screen on 30hz and enable vsync, forcing it to 30fps.

I found the best way for me to limit my FPS was to use DXtory, set up the profile for Skyrim, and cap it at 31 FPS. The games pretty rock solid now, yay for console ports :)

Skyrimprefs.ini add or edit iPresentinterval=2 for 30fps expect longer load times with this method.

Is the FPS cap supposed to be applied when the "Limit Video FPS" option is ticked?
It didn't have any effect on my FPS so do I have to change other settings too?

Try adding iPresentinterval=2 to the skyrim.ini and remove iPresentinterval=1 from the skyrimprefs.ini and make sure your video drivers are set to let application decide in the vsync options.

Yes. However, you might need to select TESV.exe in the profile drop-down menu at the top, then deactivate the "Use Default Setting" checkbox, then set the FPS limit.
Also, be sure not to run programs like ATI Tray Tools since it somehow interferes with each other.

I use this mod myself. Works like an absolute charm. with vsync off I usually get 30 outdoors, and like 40-70 indoors. I don't like the different 'feel' to the two even though 30 doesn't bug me. So i used this mod and locked it at 35. Now it's consistent across all areas :) Also seems to keep GPU / CPU temps down a few degrees since it isn't working so hard.

I will have to try the iPresentInterval tweak when i get home this afternoon. I'd really prefer to run the game with as few 3rd party apps running in the background as possible, althought DXtory seems to use less reseources then FRAPS :)

The game plays great at a constant 31 FPS, which i assume is what they did all their play testing at.... all of it :(
