How long does your load take?

Post » Tue Jan 18, 2011 8:58 pm

I have about 30 or so mods and mine take about 10-15 minutes per loading of a saved game.

Anyone can freely share their own experience with loading in this thread. I am rather curious if my medium rig is just strange or what. =)

You should include an option for less than 5 mins. 15 mins does sound long though...

That's very strange. At most it takes about a minute. Usually it's 10-15 seconds.

I have 105 active mods according to Gary Bash, which includes FWE, EVE, WMK, etc..

None of the above, with only 50 mods loaded it takes only around 4 to 6 seconds to load to game and my save. Of course loading a game with said amount of mods only depends on the computer build.

Depends. A fresh load takes 10-20 seconds. When reloading a game usually when testing a mod change, it takes ~2 seconds

Including texture packs (non-esp mods) I have easily around 150 and my well-established saves, that have a lot of hours put into them, take around 10 seconds to load, which is a couple of fast spins around that radar graphic. It's still pretty quick. A fresh new game takes seconds, not much at all.

Anything longer than a minute and I exit out (with Phoshi's FO3 utility) to see what the problem is, or just re-launch straight away, as occasionally my CTD Of The Day coincides with the game being launched.

I don't have a fancy system (not dual core), rather average graphics card these days, plenty of RAM but mine's usually pretty fast no matter how many mods I have.

10-15 minutes seems an awfully long time.

I have 107 mods and a computer that's probably too old to be doing this crap and it only takes me three minutes from clicking "Play" in Steam to spawning. Usually that's because the title screens refuse to skip, if they do it's only a mere 90 seconds in.

173 active plugins (not including numerous texture replacers). Most of the time it only takes a few seconds (5-10), occasionally it will just hang forever, It's time like that I just escape and usually find out it's my Anti virus/anti spyware doing it.

I'm running 77 plugins, not including all the small patches merged into the Bashed Patch.

When I start up Fallout 3, before getting tot the main menu my cursor appears just before the second slide disappears usually. The cursor appears when your active mods are done loading. Without mods the cursor pops up when the first slide is still up usually. So the initial loading times are longer.

For loading savegames, it takes around 10 seconds, which isn't very long, especially with all sorts of texture replacers. But that's because I have 4 Gig of RAM and a 64-bit version of Windows XP. :P

130 plugins, initial load takes about a minute, all subsequent loads (Including, generally, going through doors) very from ~instant to 10 or 15 seconds.
Oh, and cursor appears generally on the third slide.

Maybe you meant to use seconds instead of minutes in the poll???

It takes 2 secs on my PC and maybe a couple more on my laptop.

about 40 plugins including ~2gigs of music and texture packs

If you're loading from the main menu instead of quickloading you
may want to check this out (shameless :hubbahubba: )

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14094

The whole procedure of quitting to main menu and reloading takes
6 seconds if I use the mod.

@WackaMacka
My load seldom takes more than 30 seconds. If loading your game takes that long you either have a very slow computer (I would be surprised that you can even play the game) or you are doing something wrong. I have experienced that in some situations Quickload/save can be pretty slow (up to few minutes), but in those cases going to the menu is as fast as always.

Edit: Clarified that I was writing to OP, not the post above.

15 minutes to load holy [censored] dude, no game should take that long to load, I think your PC has problems other then being old or "medium".

I have nearly the maximum number of mods possible, and at best it takes 10 seconds, and at its worst 20 seconds. And this is only on my Macbook Pro.

5-10 seconds, if that, even with 50+ ESPs in the load order. It takes longer to fire up the game and get to the main menu then it does for me to load a saved game.

(Having a 10k RPM SATA might make a bit of a difference though.)

I have a rather poor computer that didn't meet all the requirements, I have some 90 plugins in use and my saves take an average of 10-20 seconds to load.

Cripes this is bad news. I do notice something strange though. Games saves that from the time I played unmodded take 15 seconds. Then I jump into a fully modded game and its time to go get a snack moment.

Kinda has me wondering wtf is up with that? =/

Hmm....guess its been awhile since I counted my mods lol Plus a bunch of texture replacers. I just chocked it up to being a heavy load dumping everything into pagefiling or something....Kinda has me wondering now =/

Its not a virus at least. Because regular unmodded saves load up almost immediately.

Ok, I was doing some testing of my game. This is really irritating me.

Game start fine. New games load up in about 7 seconds with the entire list of mods I have listed. Everything peachy.

Old saves with again, same mods now applied and textures too load in about say. 25 seconds first load. There after(if i die) almost immediately. 3 seconds tops. Nothing infect virally etc. This is definately a game problem I'm seeing here.

It seems that the longer I play. The longer each game save will take to load. My newest up time game is probably 30+ hours and it takes at least 7-8 minutes to load every [censored] time. =/

If I exit that game to start a new one, or load from an older save. It loads almost immediately. Like again, 25 being the longest time. 3 seconds shortest.

Anyone have ideas?? I'm totally stumped. If it were my anti virus it would do this for everything not just long up time game saves. If fragmented (which it isn't), same thing. It wouldn't take longer or shorter from one load to another. Incidently, the game does actually run just fine when it finally does load the long ones. In fact it plays even better from new games and older saves FPS wise.

Amy Wong Companion increases my load times considerably (from ~5 seconds to ~1 minute) for some reason or another. Was difficult deciding between crazy load times, and the most awesomest companion mod ever. YMMV of course.

Hmm, yes I should really play around with the mods I have. 2am now so it'll have to wait. But thanks for that info. It does give me a lead. =)

I am thinking about this and I know for certain its game related. I think its something to do with the calculations and the amount of interaction in terms of "ground" I cover in game. Amy wong for example like you mention adds a lot of calculations and shes following me with 2 guards too. Wondering if shes the cause....or a mix.

Ok, problem solved. Or at least pinpointed.

Huge thank you to Mesa for the lead.

Amy wong mod is the problem. I just decided to test her mod turned off. Bam! 6 second load time. Turned her back on. 7-10 minutes etc all over again. Turn her off. 6 second load. *sigh*, So apparently for some wonky reason Grish makes a great companion mod folks. But be aware the longer you have her, the longer your load times may end up being as well.

Couldn't sleep knowing there was a problem lol

Thanks again mesa ^_^
