How long for enemies to respawn?

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2016 8:42 am

In Skyrim it was 30 days ( in game days) wasn't it?

I am curious how long it is in Fallout 4.

Thanks

I got the impression in Skyrim that respawn could happen after about 1 game-week. Here, I saw someone mention that the code calls for a respawn after 72 game-hours. And that you can use console commands to alter that value.

I think it's like 72-in game hours... provided you don't revisit the location in those 72 in-game hours*, as that resets the timer. Kind of screws us "no fast-travel" types big time. You can either fast travel, or you can continue to waste 5-10 minutes constantly traveling empty wasteland. Either way, chances are you're not going to be traveling through Lexington again.

*Some locations are "battlefields" and have much shorter respawns but frequently have two factions picked at random to spawn and fight.

I find that crashed airplane on the north half of the map respawns constantly. It feels like you can clear it, travel to sanctuary, sell/store, travel back, and it's all new enemies.

Well, I can't figure it out. Some places seems to fill up almost immediately, while others take a bit more time. So, some randomness might be at work here. Overall tho, I think the places respawn too fast. Especially in the downtown area it can be a problem at times, because you can't walk / run very far, without bumping into enemies all the time. I especially hate leaving an area with fast travel, fast travel back to pick up the rest of the spoils of war, only to get jumped by a fully respawned area Grrrr! <_<

I don't get it either sometimes...I have cleared raider bases before, and afterwards slept in one of their beds for only an hour just to get a free refill on health...and woke up to respawned raiders either shooting at me, or I'm immediately in caution..

Off the top of my head:

Airplane east of Tenpines Bluff.

Diner west of Bunker Hill.

Collapsed diner/store I think south or east of Lexington/Corvega Assembly Plant (don't know exact location.)

There's one skyscraqer lobby in downtown Boston that also sees constant action.

A little neighberhood street east of Oberland Station/south of Diamond City.

Some areas are designated to spawn two opposing factions constantly, some factions only spawning within a set of rules. Brotherhood become a possible faction in the spawn pool once the Prydwyn arrives. Minutemen seem to only appear when there are settlements nearby... and they're usually really good about winning (NPCs with laser muskets hit REALLY FREAKING HARD.) And of course, if it's anyone against ghouls, it's always anyone against your ghoulified pre-war neighbors.

From what I can tell, a location that's explicitly marked cleared on the map takes about 3 weeks for enemies to respawn while in regular uncleared locations enemies respawn after 3 or so days.

I did a thorough sweep through a location, killing all opposition and vacuuming up EVERYTHING of value. Couldn't fast travel, being overloaded. Stashed some stuf and FTed to Sanctuary. Dropped off the load and FTed back. Just for the heck of it, popped in to look around. ALL of the containers had gone through a reseed cycle. (Meaning most, but not all had been restocked with loot.) That was after less than 24 game hours.

CLEARED locations will respawn after 480 in-game hours [20 days] without visiting the location.

NON-CLEARED locations respawn after 168 hours [7 days].

Locations marked as "Never Resets" such as Cabot House and Cambridge Polymer Labs will never respawn.

Some specific locations might break the above rules.
