My computer is acting up and needs a critical re-install but I want to finish the game first. I just arrived at the Institute and is about to make contact with Patriot. How much of the game is left?

Not too much longer, but tbh I'd fix your PC first

If you are on a PC can't you backup your save files and copy them back once the PC has been fixed and Fallout re-installed?
