How long have you been playing TES ?

Although I do agree that mods make it a better game they jsut did not cut it.

1. Deadly Reflex was an awesome mod that I thought was impossible to add (genius). But it also added way too much blood to the fantasy genre (besides that no problem).
2. Uneccesary Violence mod was good but again made things too complicated which meant the game was no fun.
3. Never bothered with the texture pack because I checked it out and did not improve the look of the game enough for my tastes (unlike Skyrim where its graphics seem top-notch I wont even bother lookign for any texture packs).
4. Never use overhaul mods.

:icecream:

Fair enough. The too much blood could be turned back, and UV is pretty complicated but it's really fun once you get a hold of it. FCOM just makes the game so much better, but I can see why people don't like overhaul mods. You can get smaller sets of tweaks to customize it more to your taste instead of FCOM.

Started with Oblivion, then went backwards. Still play Morrowind. Love both.

Is it true that Morrowind's modding community is more active than Oblivion ?

This will probably be moved to The Elder Scrolls general discussions.
But to answer you're question: Oblivion was the first Elder Scrolls game I played, and it was before I played any of the Fallouts

Oblivion for me. I wanted to play Morrowind but didn't have an original XBOX or a PC that could run it. I made sure I had an XBOX 360 for Oblivion.

Morrowind but I didn't like it enough to beat it only because I thought it had too much reading, I liked Oblivion better cause it had voice acting eventhough there wasn't very many different voice actors.

Morrowind is not quite as active, but it's still there. Probably about half as active as Oblivion.

i played morrowind for the first time in i think it was 2004, and i was obsessed with it until i got oblivion in 2007 (a year after it was released) due to the fact that i didn't have a 360 up until that point. in fact, oblivion was the only game i had for the 360 for almost 8 months which is a testament to how much i played it, as well as the fact that the entire reason i upgraded to the next generation of consoles is so i could play oblivion....

geez, that was seven years ago. i've been playing the elder scrolls since i was ten!
but i played arena and daggerfall for the first time about the time skyrim was announced because of the anticipation. didn't get far, although i do feel like if i were to have discovered arena or daggerfall back in the late 90's during the era of me playing f-22 lightning 2 on my dad's old windows 98 work computer, i would be a lot less into airplanes now

but i don't think that would have happened since my parents probably wouldn't have let me play a game that had a half naked woman on the cover of it when i was six years old..

I've sadly missed Arena. I became aware of the TES series with the fantastic Daggerfall.

Ive left alot behind in my life doing these adventures. Is this a game or am i living really living reality in this game.

And I was but a wee nipper in the days of Arena and Daggerfall. I didn't really get serious about PC gaming until 2008. I started Oblivion a bit later on the Xbox 360 and have since migrated over. Never looked back. :P

ARENA

What would be nice is if the TES players who have and are still playing but quit the boards due to Certain Circumstances™ all came back at once. Talk about a tectonic shift in the balance of power around here...... :flamethrower:

Morrowind for me - but not right away, I bought it when it was first released then discovered the PC I had at the time couldn't quite manage it - so I had to wait for a few months until I could upgrade stuff. Well worth the wait though.

I started playing with Morrowind on the Xbox when it first came out. My friend owned it and I would play it there sometimes. But then Morrowind GOTY came out on the Xbox and I bought that one right when it came out.

And I didn't even know about the Fallout series until Fallout 3.

Oblivion in 07 summer I think. It was whenever the GOTY edition was out, thats all that I remember

Edit: WOW I didn't think 1/5 of the players were because of F3, I would have thought it would be more like 1/10 or less.

I played (loved, to be more specific) Fallout 3, my friends convinced me to try out Oblivion, after that point I've been hooked ever since. Skyrim will be my second TES game. :tops:

about the same for me

Morrowind back in 2002, when I was 10 years old. The game was amazing and confusing at the same time, especially since I had just got an xbox and had come from playing N64.
