How Long Must We Wait For A Good Star Wars Game

Post » Wed Oct 15, 2014 11:00 pm

i mean how difficult is it.you have light sabers to chop limbs. thats gameplay right there. you have force powers so you can also make magic combat. you have force jump so none would complain if you made double jump power. force unleashed seemed to be going in the right direction. alright visuals. okay force powers. [censored] sword chopping. force unleashed 2 improved the sword game play but alas it ended after like 6 levels. how hard could it be. people would buy these games and enjoy them just for the philosophical jedi cut scenes. just for character design of jedi robes. my favorite is still jedi academy which i have to return to several times a year because there is just nothing else. stupid world. no good startwars games. no good lord of th rings games. no good spider man games

I know what you mean. Though i personally didnt think either of the force unleashed were classified as "good starwars games", they were essentially god of war clone hack n slashers that didnt fit in with any of the star wars movies at all, even though they tried. I mean come on, if there was a jedi THAT powerful that can annihilate a hundred storm troopers in a second (like he does in the commercials), Darth Vader would be dead.

Not to mention that the main character is a kid of a good Jedi, whos like 6 years old or so like right after the jedis got annihilated by the republic/empire. I thought good jedis werent allowed to have kids? And by the timeline, that guy had that kid while the Jedi order was still around - so how is he a good jedi and not turned to the darkside or whatever?

Now Star Wars Battlefront. There's a quality star wars game. I can't freakin wait for Battlefront 3, i tell you hhhwhat.

Also Knights of the old republic 1 and 2 are very quality star wars game (The Old Republic does not count).

He was not the only one. There were other Jedi in the Clone Wars era that had kids. Keiran Halcyon (Corran Horn's grandfather) and Quinlan Vos come to mind. Ki-Adi-Mundi had several children, and he was on the Jedi Council.

Also, it would be pretty silly to expect someone to turn evil just because they have a kid. Real life would be pretty weird if that were the case. :P

Well it's not just normal people that turn evil. From what they say in the movies, the Jedis arent supposed to love because it gives them strong emotions and they are supposed to let go of all emotions to control the force responsibly. People with Jedi force powers that let their emotions control them become the sith, that's basically what the sith thrive on.

That's the whole reason why the emperor keeps telling him that he can save his wife and all that, he's trying to stir emotions in anakin so he lets the emotions control him and thus becomes a sith.

Having a kid would only strengthen emotions like that, it's why jedi arent supposed to love or have families after they become jedi. Though i wouldnt be surprised if they retconned that too, seeing as how star wars is full of retcons.

Well we already have bunch of good ones.

KotoR comes to mind, SWToR could have been a great single player game, but... well I guess some people enjoy the MMO.

Empire at war was really enjoyable, along with the Jedi Knight series, and of course battlefront, And they're making a new battlefront game, so I assume that will be the next good one.

Republic commando wasn't bad either. Jedi Academy was fun, I'm still not sure how I feel about the story though.

Star Wars 1313, looked promising, sadly it was discontinued (because Disney bought the franchise and stuff IIRC)

Actually, the idea that Jedi cannot have children is itself a retcon. The Tales of the Jedi series has Jedi with children, and Anakin himself was redeemed by the love of his son.

But yes, they do discourage it because it can lead to the dark side, but is not guaranteed to do so.

Sounds to me kinda like how in earlier times catholic priests were permitted to marry, then the rules changed to ban it, and them post-reformation the protestants permitted it again.

If I recall correctly the new republic Jedi permitted it again.
