I voted for 30+ hours.

The longer the Main Quest, the better it is!!!!!! Make it worth my $60.

i want it to be hard. filled with hard quests and riddles. i hate too easy questlines which you can just rush through. and if they make it hard enough, it doesnt need to be extremely long as in extremely many quests.

If the main quest itself, with doing absolutely no side quests was 30 hours long for a strait play through.... almost no one would ever finish it. Considering Bethesda wants to sell the game to casual users, and not the hardcoe fans on these boards (your going to buy it anyway, so they don't have to sell you on it), the story is probably only going to be 5-10 hours long so everyone can beat it without it taking months. Like it or not, that's just how its going to be.

So the real question should be how many side quests are there, and how long do they extend the game.

As far as actual length is concerned, probably DF/MW's. From the player's point of view, Arena's. :P

Seriously, has anybody on this forum actually played it to completion?

If your talking about Arena, I beat it last summer and it was very short once you knew what you were doing. I'm working on Daggerfall right now tho.

20-30 I'd say.... But I'd also say that it should be spread out between other quests, so that you can't rush through the main questin three sittings. Think Mass Effect 2.

I dunno if I want a 30 hour main quest... that probably would mean other questlines and factions would suffer as a result, and that would be uncool. :sadvaultboy:

Morrowind's storyline was long as hell, at least twice as long as Oblivion's, and the factions didn't suffer. Then again, those days are long gone...

The longer the better. This is The Elder Scrolls. It needs to be as big as big can get.

Should we have a contest to see who can complete the game the fastest upon release?

No way, I don't think anyone plans on trying to beat this game too fast.

As long as possible honestly, one of the TES' strengths is the amount of content, I hope this time around that will be extended to the MQ aswell

I want it to be in a way like Daggerfall's where people contact you at the appropriate times instead of one quest leading into another. This can also be used to obscure the full picture from the player, instead of having them do everything involving the main quest.

Seriously, has anybody on this forum actually played it to completion?
I really did.

I chose 10-20. It seems like the standard in gaming nowadays, and it harbors enough time to get through a nice plot, but not something tiresome. I'd say a 16 hour story would be perfect. Nothing too long, or too short.

Although, it took me over 250 hours of running around in Oblivion before I finally decided to do the Main Quest, so I'll be running around for a while before I do Skyrim's quest, more than likely.

I hope it dosent make you feel obligated to do the main quest. I felt terrible every time that I showed up at weynon priory after 3 months of game time.
