How long is this beta going to be broken?

Post » Sun Mar 02, 2014 10:23 pm

this is the 3rd beta weekend and every one i have participated in there are broken quests and anchors with masses of people standing around them. is there plans to fix these things because i never see any info from this Dev team... the anchor outside of Daggerfall has been stuck in the ground for 2 days for me with no NPCs to kill near it.

This is actually an older beta version.
It was said to just be a stress test.

Stress test, EU and NA players on the same server, i expected it.

Of course IT IS annoying, for me too, but i will start complaining only if the final release is as laggy as the beta.

what a great idea for them to do a stress test on the old systems... its gonna be [censored] when all the people start dropping in the main city right away. LOL@stress test without the final combat system... it is clearly going change the way the servers handle the data so im not sure how usefull this "Stress test" even is. its more like an unfinished multiplayer demo.

Yeah it is kinda weird to do a stress test on a system that is going be pretty much changed substancially now the with the no collision NPC they're adding amongst other things. I guess they have done enough test with the permanent beta folks to be confident enough that the new version of the game will work maybe? I dunno, I'm not a game designer so I can only speculate...still seems weird to me regardless.

my brother is a programmer and he is laughing about this. when the new combat and leveling/flow system is in all this stress testing is pretty much gonna be wasted because all the data bottlenecks will be in different spots

I see these weekend beta tests as demos and marketing at this point.

They had to do another Beta after they cancelled the NDA so late before release. My guess is they weren't getting as many pre-orders as they hoped and therefore had to do something. This Beta is now purely a Marketing gag for people to put their live streams and Youtube videos up. They are probably hoping that their nice graphics in those videos will get more people to pre-order or at least buy the game when it's released.I for myself have to say: I do absolutely hope that they have a better, more stable version of the game up their sleeves, otherwise this will probably be the shortest MMO story in history. People aren't as patient any more as they had been 10 years ago with WoW :)

I think the fact they are not using the most recent updates, is BAD for marketing. All these issues could turn people off from buying the game, who signed up for beta to see what it's like.

i understand and agree completely but you would think part of their wanting more pre orders would involve fixing broken quests u run into 3 hours into the game.

It's very much like software people to ignore the need for hardware testing too...

Why do people say that new combat is coming? It's not. All that is happening is the collision detection for pve, otherwise combat will stay the same.

The release date is pretty much set in stone now because of signed contractual time frames that need to be met... Yea I'm almost positive there is one more beta, prob with a newer or released draft of the software.
