so how long is this game really?

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 12:36 pm

I've played DAO and i just beat ME2 today and they were nowhere near the length i thought they would be. i think i played DAO for about 30-35 hours before i beat it and i didn't really feel like going back fro another playthrough on a different character. as for ME2, 32 hours and i beat everything. in fact, i have played borderlands the longest of all my SP games. i have several days in that game.

I'm really looking for something long. not fake long like ME2. it felt short. it felt like most of my time was spent mining for minerals. i finished all the quests before going into the omega 4 relay and then it just... ended.

now i saw the thread of how long people have spent in skyrim and it seems like most are hovering around 30-50 hours. are you guys close to being finished or is there a lot left to do? i really want something that i can actually play for a long time.

Right now I'm at 35 hours. I probably 20% complete. Just as a side note, I put 110 hours into Fallout 3 and still didn't do everything I could. I have about 98 hours in Fallout New Vegas. I will probably have about 200 hours into this game when all is said and done.

Depends on play style really. For me this game will be the equivalent of ME1, 2, DAO, and DA2 combined in terms of hours of content and then some. Thing about BioWare games is that they are always linear, while this game is a Sandbox RPG so you could say you have near infinite hours of gameplay within this game.

It's honestly insanely long if you want to accomplish everything. It's not fake long either. There are just so many dungeons and side quests that the hours start to pile on really heavily.

However, the main quest, if you were to rush through it isn't necessarily hugely long or anything. Its pretty solid in length. But I see a few people complain about the length every once in a while because of how quickly they were able to beat the main quest. The main quest is just a small part of the absolutely massive game that they've created.

If there is any single player game on the planet that you want to get a ridiculous amount of hours out of, this is it.

It's hard to say how long an Elder Scrolls game is. It depends on if you barrel straight through the main quest or literally stop to pick the flowers along the way.

It is going to depend on how you play the game really. Some people really do put 300+ hours into the game. Morrowind i've spent a total of probably 400 hours and around the same for oblivion. I'll be doing the same for Skyrim. This includes multiple characters though. On my main character i do spend over 100 hours in the game.

The 80 hours I put into "Morrowind" barely scratched the surface.

I spent over 1000 hours in "Oblivion". 600 on my first character and over another 400 on some specific RP types.

I do not think it's an unfair expectation to be sure that "Skyrim" will at least be in the middle (somewhere between 81 - 999 hours) and there could potentially be more to do than in "Oblivion".

This was a speedrun of the main quest only. So if you are playing just for the main quest you're playing the entirely wrong game.

The one that sped through in 2 to 3 hours did not read anything at all. That cuts out a lot of time.

I think I have about 40 hours in and I have been to two cities, Whiterun (who hasn't?) and Riften. I keep getting so many little quests...and then on the way to the quests I have to explore that cave on the ridge or that outcropping of rocks or that...well you get the idea. I have only just reached the first steps going up to the mountain top, and of course when I got there, there were more quests to do...

I think the one thing slowing me down is that I have to get rid of all the loot I keep carrying which means running back to whiterun and either putting stuff in my house or selling it. not a complaint though, I am actually quite wealthy now!

when I actually sat myself down with Oblivion and commited to doing every dungeon and every quest I think I put about 250 hours on one character. I expect that much from Skyrim as well.

It's as long as you make it.

I've played for 60 hours now and have yet to complete a single quest outside of Whiterun Hold.

Skyrim is as big as you make it.

ME2 and DAO are very different from Skyrim because the former two have very mild open world-ness, while in Skyrim you're free to do whatever you like. I. E: You can play Skyrim forever and never touch the main quest and still have great fun.

It really depends on playstyle, if you think that finishing mainquest is completing this game then it wont be much longer than 30hours. If you do everything else(guilds/other quests some townsfolk gives) it can be 100-200hours. If you start modding and become a tes really devoted fan you keep playing it after 10 years. :geek:

If you go by a completionist standpoint. Infinate, because there are infinate quests in that game. :hubbahubba:

I've played 51 hours so far, and my quest log has around 75 quests still in it, and I probably haven't even seen a fifth of the dungeons and caves. I expect to put in at least 150 - 200 hours on this character, and a little less on all my future ones.

However long you want it to be. I'm at 57 hours on one play through and haven't chosen a side for the war, and stopped at a particular questline after retrieving a horn.

How can you tell how much time you've spent on a character? I can't find it anywhere. On Xbox btw

The main quest will probably last you 10-20 hours, depending on how you play. You don't actually finish an Elder Scrolls game by beating the main quest, though. There really is no end at all. Aside from the main quest, there are six factions with their own questlines and tons of other side quests. After that there are plenty of other non-quest-related dungeons to find and explore, and artifacts and rare items to find. I wouldn't be surprised if doing all this took you well past the 200 hour mark. Also, thanks to the radiant story system Bethesda uses, there are technically an infinite number of other, non-listed quests. Most are just fetch quests and bounties and stuff like that though.

If you play on the PC, you'll also have access to fan-made mods, which kept me coming back to Oblivion enough to put in over 1000 hours in the last 5 years. I expect the same to happen with Skyrim.

On the PC, when you put the cursor over a save, it shows the hours played in the details of the save. I bet xbox has something like it.

I am 45 hours in lvl 24 and have not touched the story line, still have a few main cities to visit and like 50 or so active quests to do..and I have only found about half of the locations on the map. Unless you literally do not explore anything and run the story and side quests it would still take you a long time to do that. It is literally the most over whelming jam packed game I have ever played!!
