How long was it before you started the main story line?

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 6:07 am

Once you got the chance to go out on your own and do what you wanted how long was it before you went back to the story?

For me, I got to the part where I have to go to the top of the mountain or something and havne't gone back to it.

So for roughly 22 hours out of 24 I've been doing other things.

I started playing at midnight when the game came out, have about 100 hours into the game, and have not started the MQ, or any other factions.

80 hours and I would say I just started it. Haven't finished any quest lines at all. Just did lots of side quests, misc quests, exploring, dungeon diving, daedric quests, enchanting work, dragon mask collecting, statue of dibella collecting, and unique item hunting.

I didn't even go up the mountain to meet the greybeards until I was level 30.

Level 20~25 or so, I realised that I'm becoming too powerful for normal enemies, I didn't want the dragons to feel weak, so I went to start Dragon before I level up too much.

I did not see the greybeards until I tossed my first character and after almost a hundred hours and made a new one. Another Dunmer lol. I got carried away with console commands and he became to OP. Practicing much more self control this time. Of course my first character was a badass so I tweaked him for RP reasons...still I went to far lol.

I got to Whiterun and then ran off into the wilds. There's so much more to see and do in Skyrim than follow the yellow brick road.

About 30 minutes, because I want the dragons to be available.

I think thats forgiveable as most like to have the house what needs to kill the first dragon :)

after whiterun theres really no desire to do MQ until like 25+. I'd rather be spelunking in some dwemer ruins and learning the other shouts.

100+ hours in and im avoiding it like the plague

Only went to Whiterun to talk to the jarl, but havent gotten him the dragonstone yet (its in my inventory)
call me weird but i rather have NO dragons, and just exploring

And there many other ways to get the house (civil war questline?)
+ you can get into the mageguild quests(forgot name of place) and get a fancy room, where you can stash your loot

i just love to do side quests and misc quests, looting, Killing spree's and Bandit hunting
not sure ill even start the mainquest, well ... maybe on a diffirent save file, so i have a MQ savefile and a regular one

I waited until I hit 35 to respond to the greymanes first call.

@ 42 now, and still have the elder scroll in my inventory and haven't bothered using it yet to close the rift.

According to my journal, I've gone about 5 or 6 quests into it after 140 hours. That was far enough and I've been doing other quests, exploring cities and dungeons and trying to get a feel for who I might support, if anyone, in the main quest. I'm leaning one way but I want more information.

i cant decide on imperial or Stormcloak's

after seeing the Thalmor with the imperial in the beginning of the game, made me worry
and the stormcloak's are just fighting a powerstruggle and trying to force a coop upon the existing Reign, so ..... i dont know

a ) Support the empire who possibly supports a totalitarian Supremacist movement (elven nazi's if you will)

b ) support the Nords on their powerstruggle

Choices !
