How long will it take you to download 28.12 GB?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 3:03 am

Just a question to my fellow digital downloaders.

The game has been announced as being 28.12GB in file size for Xbox One here:

http://wccftech.com/fallout-4-file-size-revealed-xbox-marketplace/

The article says file size is usually the same for either console when it comes to mult platform games. I will be getting the digital download on PS4.

Just wondering, for those with great download speeds, it would take for them to download a 28.12 GB file? For me it will take about 4 days. Better than I thought.

I thought the game would be 50 GB and I had already written off a whole week for downloading time.

Guess you must all live in town or city areas where broadband speeds run at their max.

2-3 MB per second download speed. Good enough for me.

About 4 hours for me too, maybe 4,5.

And I pay for the cheapest and slowest fiber broadband around here, as I feel it's enough and only like 4 euros a month  I could get a 1000/100 connection for about 45 euros a month which would download the game in less than 10 minutes.

Around 36 hours or so at 1.5 mbps. That's the price I pay for living in a backwater town (I pay around $70 usd a month on internet alone). I guess buying a physical copy seems pretty mandatory for me. Which is fine as I planned to purchase a retail copy anyway.

If it were that size about an hour, but it will probably be bigger on PC, so I don't know.

1 hour 40 mins if their servers can max my broadband, actual current is 4.9 MB a second it's rated at 49 MB actual speeds are always divided by around 10.

If I can get them to max it again which I was quoted 76 MB speed which is 7.6 MB actual 1 hour 2 mins. For 28.12 gig.
I can normally torrent download a 1.8 gig A film in under 10 mins, I have known them to finish before I have finished browsing to see what's available....in just over 6 min.

But the time it actually takes will depend on their servers my guess is it will be a high demand download, so unless they torrent it, so the load is shared over all the downloaders as well as their primary server it's most likely going to take 4 or 5 hours Min.
When Microsoft released windows 7 beta there servers crashed under the load and they stopped all downloads, when they finally restarted you were lucky to see 500k speeds that's a very long download 0.5 MB/ sec. Getting on for 16 hrs.

Even with my fast connection, I always buy the media as its a backup, and I can take it to friends to play if I want, or sell it in the unlikely event I don't like it.

almost no time at all...lucky to have a 1gb connection which in practice translates reliably at least 700mbps

Probably 2 hours, assuming every bloody other person isn't downloading it at the same time. Maybe it would be simpler just to get the disc version, then I'd only have to dl the patch.

I just downloaded AC: Rogue, which is about 13 gb, in around 15-20 minutes. I am guessing, based on that as a benchmark, it will take me just a little under an hour. Of course, even during preload season, it will still be pretty clogged up. That's the good part though. Once it is actually downloaded, all I will have to do is wait for whatever activation/release patch needs to download. My estimate is that ten minutes after it goes live, I'll be running the stupid DirectX, VC, and similar installers. Within half an hour, I will be looking at the character construction screen.

I recon 2 hours at best, probably more, as the Steam servers will be rather busy at the time.

Right now I do not know how long it will take since for the next few hours I still have USB internet Stick and it would likely take at least 3 months due to exceeding bandwidth caps and then waiting for the next month. Good news for me I am getting 50Mbit Fiber Optic connection so if you do not hear from me in a couple of days I might be suffering from an Internet Overdose. :ahhh:

Days, assuming I don't get throttled like my ISP sometimes does during daytime. Which is why I'm buying a physical copy, ain't nobody got time for that.

2.5 to 3 hours. I have a 30 megabit fiber connection. Steam usually maxes out my download speed.

I have preordered through Gamestop, so I will be picking my game up there. Thought I might support a store I frequently visit.

Don't be surprised if the 'physical copy' turns out to be just a launcher that sets up the download.

I have no idea how long it will take to download. My ISP tests at 7.85 Mbps on Speedtest.net, which isn't great.

I'm getting retail svcker! But if I were to get digital, going by how long The Last Of Us Remastered took to download, I'd say a week tops.
