How long would vanilla Skyrim last you?

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 2:09 am

The following information is at hand.

Say there were no mods, ever.. how long would this game last you?

According to a dev regarding the "radiant quest" system - "the vibe is that it's something that can be played forever".

Does the "radiant quest system" satisfy your role-playing needs? Would you play... FOREVER..?

For me, it will last me forever.. to me, a quest is to reach point A from point B, kill/loot whatever and return. i could do that all day long

I've played the game for about 70 hours so far, and estimate that i'll keep playing it until I reach about 130-150 hours before getting bored.

With mods, i'd say 800 hours.

Radiant quests are basically like daily quests in MMOs. It's an artificial and extremly boring way to extend playing time. That said, even without them the game has ENORMOUS amount of content. I was at 100h played before I even touched any of the major questlines such as Thieves Guild, DB, etc.

Vanilla Oblivion lasted me about 3 years so I imagine about 4 or 5 haha.

I have only been to 3 of the holds so far.

It is my new Oblivion, which means that even after I have played maybe 500 + hours and start playing other games again I will play it in periods until the new Elder Scrolls game come, or a franchinse challenge it(and does it well enough too actually create some rivalry, so they push each other too perfection).

I played Morrowind and Oblivion for 2 years each so probably about the same for Skyrim, assuming the PS3 gets a playable game post patch.

If not, then most likely, till about mid Dec.

Not forever, but a long time. I'm still interested in playing it on new characters, and continuing my first, although doing that first burrow is quite tedious after the umteenth time. Eventually I want to get it on the PC so I can mod and play with console codes. But I'd haft to pretty much get a new computer for that.

Well over 150. Mods will bring that number up to around 500+

Completely lost interest now...

I'll give it to my mother. She can tollerate the crashing, since her WOW account is no longer active.

Me, going back to reality, because virtual reality is just getting old and as fake as it is in the movies. lol.

Lots of pretty pictures, nothing to actually do... worth wasting hours doing. If I wanted tasks, I would mow the yard and clean my room. The rewards are the same... kills hours, gives you nothing in return.

What a great idea. Now you don't need to waste your life on games anymore.. It's like smoking, you get addicted, then one day you have done it too much, it's just soo hard to quit. Incredible how one game just cured that addiction, congrats boy! Now go enjoy life outside, the way humans have done for thousands of years before you.

Me? I'll keep on balancing my addiction and my normal life.

Will complete all the quests and then shelve it for a year or so, by then lots of great mods have come out and I'll play it again, for longer this time :)

If there would be no mods? Just would complete all the content (excluding radiant quests of course, they're too boring for me anyway)

Without mods not very much. With mods until the next TES is released, as it was with Oblivion.

I have completed every Quest in the game (expect 2 bugged ones), play time of 155hours

Could'nt put the game down originally but i've done everything and there is nothing left to do expect TG/DB repeating quests which take 5mins each and have no end purpose.

Now just need to wait for an expansion or perhaps I'll start from scratch again if the patch fixes all the bugs ;)

Was a very good game while it lasted, infact it lasted me much longer than any other game than WoW but the problem with a single player RPG is that eventually it has an end and there is no updated content, week and a ahlf of good entertainment though.

I plan to play vanilla Skyrim at least until TES VI comes out. And probably years after that too.

Basically forever.

You can't really say you have fully completed the game untill you... Say, do the game as every race with every ''class'' ( I know classes are not defined in Skyrim, but you know what I mean ). Even then, with every class and race would have to be done twice, once picking to join the Imperials and the other with the Stormcloaks. Then, probably another twice for another choices etc... That's a very long game-life...

Then again, it all depends on what the player defines as fully complete.

This. With that said, however, I'm purposefully playing less of the game each day to make sure I get those 100+ extra hours out of the game. The more I consume a game, the more likely I am to never play it again. Ergo, a break is necessary to keep my interest from going away. That, and it's sort of torturous waiting for everyone to finish their texture packs for the game. The vanilla game looks wonderful, but after seeing some of the stuff up on the Nexus I'm extremely eager to start modding the game.

Probably be playing for years, on and off. Already over 100 hours in and main/faction quests done but still loving exploring the world.

This "type" of game?

What TYPE is it?
- An RPG... no... there are no stats, no real roles, but it is a game. It is like mario-brothers... Life, mushroom-power, and tasks.
- A FPS... no... Actions are bogged-down, locking your feet until you finish the move. Locking your hands excessively long while reading scrolls. Wasteful on ammo. But you can KITE some-times...
- An adventure game... Almost... I like those. This has lots of adventure, just garbage rewards.

Oh... is it the type that plays without crashing? No... It crashes over and over and corupts saved-games, and quests, and destroys hours of possible enjoyment knowing you have to go back twenty saves, because the threaded quests broke way back there...

Yea, I don't like THOSE TYPES of games... They are not for me.

I'm gonna charge them 6% interest on the $60 loan I gave them for this game. I'll stop collecting interest when it becomes playable again. (Doesn't have to be fun, but at-least playable.)
