How long do you think you'd survive in the Mojave?

Long enough to get the hell out of there and head east to DC!

I keep forgetting about the heat. It's a desert! (Mobius - dessert)

We'd die of dehydration before getting killed by infected gecko bites. By the time we'd travel north we'd get killed by Cazadores' poison and Deathjaws' claws!

Chances are they out number you. They've probably seen combat too. As for there equipment the Service Rifle is pretty sturdy accurate and reliable.

I would stand completely still. I would be the Human Cactus, known across the land and feared for that matter.

I'd start out by doing odd jobs around Goodsprings, hunting and gathering water: this would (hopefully) lead to a decent amount of Caps. Then I'd try my chances at Sunny Smiles, hope for a chance to tap that, then move on to the Strip the same way Gabriel did, though I'd do it with some hired guns at my flank. Once there I would rent out a room in Vault 21, then I'd kill my thugs in their sleep and take their armour and guns as well as the money I paid them.

Then I'd head further West into the NCR, and live out my days as a part of the Republic's Judicial branch of government: a job which I would achieve using my silver tongue.

On second thought I'd probably die before I even made it out of Goodsprings... :ermm:

Are we talking Mojave or the Mojave wasteland?
How much water do I have, and do i have acess to more? If i can find an adequate supply of water, then indefinately is my answer. If not...
Theres not really any shade out there. Your skin dries out pretty quick in the dry winds, causing sweat to evaporate pretty fast. pretty fast.

Keep yourself covered with loose dark clothing and your chances go up.
Night travel, makeshift shade duing the day.
3 weeks two days, 5 hours, 99 minutes and 37 second.
Thats my final answer

I'm confused, why would dark clothing benefit you? Surely it would conduct heat, if anything?

Ok, so the idea is that yes, black abosrbs light and therefore heat.
But.. The thing to remember is that your body radiates heat.
Black can therefore absorb and wick heat away from your body, leaving you cooler.
It must be loose though, so that you arent feeling the heat that the cloth gis giving off from absorbing sunlight.
It also relies on wind. I think given that hot air rises, it leaves a vaccuum of sorts for other air to polulate= wind.

Conversely, White clothing will reflect all of your infra-red light heat back at you, even if it reflects the sunlight

Depends where I started off. Though if it's somewhere in the wasteland i'd most likely last until I starved, dehydrated, or either drank or ate something I shouldn't. (I have little knowledge of edible plants in the Mojave Desert.)

Why? Powder Gangers don't attack unless I piss them off, if I get stopped by them I give them what caps I have and move on.
After that I need to climb the cliffs east of Hidden Valley, which can be done realistically but can't in the game as there are invisible walls.
After that the road is safe towards Vegas.

No, they wouldn't, do you even know anything about Legion?
They don't enslave Dale or other civilians in their lands and they don't enslave the Courier, so I don't see why I'd be enslaved if I go straight towards them and peacefully initiate relations.

[edit]

Also it makes perfect sense why NCR and Legion accepts help from a third party.
NCR is often restricted by politicians and military orders, if they can get something done by using a merc they will.
Legion has a war going on and they aren't exactly liked in the Mojave, so using a mercenary to get crap done on the d-low makes sense.
They don't just let you help randomly, they generally have a reason for accepting your help.
Sorry haven't looked at this post in a while now then first of all IT'S NOT SAFE on road to Vegas 2nd of all YOUR NOT the courier if you walked up to the U.S. military and said I want to help you fight the Taliban but I don't want to be trained would they say yes

Your wrong. Black absorbs light from the sun generating heat. UV Rays=heat. BUT your body does not generate light so a color would not absorb the heat. You are not thinking this through far enough. You just base it off some site.

I think you're wrong on this one. I'm not an expert but loose black or white clothing is recomened for traveling in a desert.

it's not just some site. if you bothered to read the article it cites legitimate studies conducted on the matter. Also, there's a reason why tribesmen in deserts like the Saharan desert wear loose black clothing. If after all these years they learned to memorize locations of oasises(oasis? oasi? oases?) but not what type of clothing is ideal, then there's an issue here.

Then I'm screwed, as I live in the Mohave. It only gets about 110 degrees on a good day in the summer, winter is 30 degrees on a good day.
