How long do you think you'd survive in the Mojave?

I think i'd be gone as soon as I met up with the powder gangers. How about you?

I'de stay in Goodsprings for a while, well probably a long time. Then I would attempt to trek to New Vegas, no idea what I would do then.

I'd probably try and take over good springs (on my own) and then organize a group to clear out the nearby powder gangers.

I'd survive all right, I'd go east through Hidden Valley, climb the cliffs, come out at Noav then just follow the road up north to Vegas.
After I got to Freeside I'd brutally kill any thug that tried to cross me with a machete or something and make it so horrible that it'd scare others into not [censored] with me.
After that I'd probably work towards getting into The Strip and once I've secured certain resources and intel I'd go to Legion and help them out.

I think I'd survive pretty well.

Why? Powder Gangers don't attack unless I piss them off, if I get stopped by them I give them what caps I have and move on.
After that I need to climb the cliffs east of Hidden Valley, which can be done realistically but can't in the game as there are invisible walls.
After that the road is safe towards Vegas.

No, they wouldn't, do you even know anything about Legion?
They don't enslave Dale or other civilians in their lands and they don't enslave the Courier, so I don't see why I'd be enslaved if I go straight towards them and peacefully initiate relations.

[edit]

Also it makes perfect sense why NCR and Legion accepts help from a third party.
NCR is often restricted by politicians and military orders, if they can get something done by using a merc they will.
Legion has a war going on and they aren't exactly liked in the Mojave, so using a mercenary to get crap done on the d-low makes sense.
They don't just let you help randomly, they generally have a reason for accepting your help.

I would gather all the items I can including weapons, food, water and tools. Search for and through any library or book supply along the way and get a copy of Machiavelli's The Prince. Then look for the least hostile town possible and let the book do the rest for me.

I have no idea what that book is about but. You're doing what Caesar did? Using knowledge of the past to form something new?

Would I survive in the Mojave? Sure I would. Would I survive in the Fallout Mojave? I think I would have a fair shot at it. I wouldn't bother anyone and stay the hell out of fiend territory.

At least everyone is modest. :)

If we are just picked up right now and thrown in the Mojave I find my chances of survival slim.

Are we talking real life? I've been out there when it's hot, and most people would not last long at all. I was out there one time on a trail, off the main road by maybe 2 miles. I didn't realize how hot it was until I got out of the car. I was instantly parched. I started thinking... OK, if the car shut off right now, I'm actually not quite sure I'd even make it back to the highway. That's when you realize how people die within sight of a road out there. So that's just under normal conditions, minus the radiation, crazed killers, and mutated monsters.

I probably wouldn't surive. If I did, it would be because I stayed in Goodsprings until a caravan came through then I follow that to New Vegas or south to the Mojave Outpost. That is unless the powder gangers didn't attack until after I left, if they attacked while I was there I would probably haul ass out of there and die somewhere in the desert. or get raided while with the caravan and do the same. That is if I don't die in one of the raids or of a gecko bite. If I was lucky I could get a job in New Vegas or the NCR as something nice and not too dangerous.

Of course id survive in the Mojave, im an Enclave scout/officer taking in Intel to report back to the higher ups. Courier work long distance is a great intel gatherer, so long as some [censored] in a suit doesnt jump you for your package with 8 other guys then pop 2 bullets into your head.

I would either head through the mountains to the NCR outpost and enlist. Or head into legion territory let them capture me then serve the legion as a slave warrior. Using my real life training I would do everything I could to rise through the ranks and meet Caesar face to face. I would then stab the [censored] out of him and let his praetorian's kill me. Just kidding. I would probably head to Zion and run with Joshua graham.

Or I would work in good springs for awhile. Save up enough money to buy a 9mm pistol, A couple Magazines of +p ammo, Water and rations. I would then steal easy petes dynamite and make some IED's. Head towards a traveled NCR patrol route plant my IED take cover behind a big rock and wait. I would detonate the explosives when they where in range and then clean them up with the 9mm. Take there leftover gear and caps and rinse and repeat till I could get a good rifle. Then I would go NCR trooper hunting.
