How long you will be playing VANILLA Skyrim?

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 5:57 pm

until i beat it then imma move on to AC revelations or uncharted 3. this game is awesome though im loving it.

Define "beat it". Do you mean like beating the MQ or really beating the game? Cause i really feel sorry for the folks who say that they have beaten an Elder Scrolls game at the time they finish the MQ :)

Until the first expansion comes out. If it still counts as vanilla after that, until the next TES comes out.

Neither your title or original post clarify this.

I thought i made myself pretty clear, well sorry for confusion or such. It's not JUST the console gamers, but i'm sure that almost everyone with a PC will turn to mods sooner or later. Hence, mainly console gamers.

Vanilla goes bye bye as soon as the CK is released and the mods start to pour out. I am looking forward to companion improvements, new quests, new followers, player houses, balance tweaks, AI improvements and more. I too will play for years to come (with some long breaks) but not vanilla. Its the mods that keep me coming back like it did with Oblivion and Morrowind.

That said-This game needs less work than Oblivion did. Much of what I like is already there but there is always room for more.

I have it for the 360. Probably until I get bored of it. So far...I don't see that happening anytime this or next year :)

Lucky PC gamers.... :(

For real though, mods would be NIIICE, but i can't afford a good computer...

Untill GOTY is out for the PC and I switch to that from the 360. Been my plan all along :)

Hit the nail on the head! Gives me plenty of time to upgrade my computer so I can experience it in all of its TRUE splendor.

I've already updated some textures, and will continue as they arrive. I hardly count these as mods though. Other fixes like LAA are also more about fixing bugs for BGS.

After the CK comes out, I'll probably end up with 250+ loaded at all times. Besides the bugfixes and graphics improvements, there will be so many mods that deepen and extend the game that I won't be able to play the game vanilla.

Vanilla skyrim is pretty good, though.

For years, just like I did with Oblivion.

Morrowind was the only TES game that benefited from mods (mainly graphics like better Heads and Better Bodies) for me. My PC simply isn't good enough to run Oblivion properly, let alone with mods and the game was fun enough as it was vanilla. I never had much interest in mods that completely changed the gameplay or turned all nPCs into lollis anyway.
Skyrim is a masterpiece and I simply can't see many things I'd want fixed by mods except perhaps for the horrible map. (And that's just a minor nitpick)

On the 360 so prob until I get utterly bored of dumby'ing peeps! Three or four chars. one maxed to the T's! should last as long as obliv's so three years or so! Thats when I'll like find myself returning to it less frequently! But for now its likely that no other game will occupy my consul for at least 8 months.... Roughly!.... Give or take!

Forever, unless my laptop works miracles and decides to run the game at reasonable frame rates. I get Fallout 3 at around 20 - 30 fps...yeah. Dunno how Skyrim would fare.

Although I'm using Cipscis' Reduced Distance Greetings mod I consider my game to be a basically vanilla game. I'll be playing this way for quite a while. And I know I'll be returning to a genuine, regulation vanilla Skyrim character from time to time in the future...as I still do with Morrowind.

So, off and on, I expect to be playing vanilla Skyrim for many, many years to come.

Likely until Diablo 3 or Kingdoms of Amalur is released although I did play my first game of Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup in the last 2 months yesterday :) It was hard, I had forgotten 2/3rds of the hot keys.

That said, I suspect this will be the game for the next few years that I come back to once the latest and greatest game wears off.

Until they finally release that darned Creation Kit. And it's about time they do, because I'm starting to wonder why did I even buy the pc version.

Played vanilla skyrim for about 2 minutes just to see what the game looked like before adding HD texture mods.
