i really hope it is in! That would be awesome! shooting with a bow from your horse. It would be cool to shoot someone that is on a horse and be able to knock them off even though they don't die. SWEET!!!

Horses haven't been confirmed to be in yet, to the best of my knowledge. Concept art doesn't necessarily translate to "in-game". Oblivion actually had beef, but no cattle.

There is a horse in the trailer. Whether or not we can ride it is uncertain, but horses are included in the current build of the game.

I rather doubt there will be mounted combat. If there were that would be nice, but it seems so unlikely. If they do implement horses I liked the RDR method, it had its critics that didn't like the 'spur' system where you had to mash a button and the horse had weight/momentum. But I feel you wither spur the horse or just admit you system is a four legged jeep. The other great advantage to the RDR system was you could feel the horse was being spurred too much and was going to buck you off....what good is a horse with unlimited stamina and that just lets you beat on it. I'd even like a system where if you treat you horse badly it treats you badly back...running awway...bucking...kicking you in the head.

Your poll options make me laugh. Especially the first one lol. I can't even vote in this poll because the poll options are so absurd. You're stating the options as if we know something about horses in Skyrim. I can't vote because I don't know, and neither should anyone else.

Well there's a horse in the trailer. I think that means that you'll be able to ride it.

He said in the podcast the world would be odd w/out horses. I believe horses will be present throughout the world but will not be able to be ridden. The horse in the trailer is a clydsdale, a work horse, not a riding horse.

In the current build. If they can't get them to work the way they want, the horses won't be in the final "gone gold" build of the game, from what I think I recall. I don't listen to podcasts, and not all of the podcasts have transcripts.

10:38 People are curious about mounts. Are we going to see a return to mounts?

“Something we’re messing with, and we don’t know where it’s going to end up. There were things with the Oblivion horses. We liked having them. They weren’t the greatest implementation of horses. And now you see things come out like Red Dead. There are more horses in games, and we feel like just the basic implementation we did in Oblivion isn’t going to be good enough. We are currently attempting things with that, and I don’t know where it’s going to end up.”

10:45 When you were looking at the Oblivion mounts, What were the things that stood out as being kind of problems for you that you wouldn’t put into Skyrim unless you could fix?

“Mostly I would say controls and the feel that you are not in some sort of battlefield jeep. You are riding an animal. Just the feeling of doing it. But a world without them feels a little weird. We definitely want to have them. We don’t know yet what you’re going to be able to do with them and to what level.”

He said that the game world would be weird if horses were to be completely absent. And that wouldn't get to ride them unless they were up to par. That seems to say that they will be in the game regardless or whether or not we can ride them.

Pretty much says exactly that in the last sentence in fact.

Yeah i guess i should have said "in your opinion" after every question. then it would of made everything better right?

I'm just sick of doing that. IMO this, IMO that. I think it's implied here

Yes, in a trailer that was revealed like a week after they said they don't know if mounts would be in the game. Don't read too much into it.

I don't know about that... I thought only Todd said anything about it, and he only said anything once, in the podcast with GI (which he said he wasn't sure about them). This podcast was before the trailer.

I have a feeling horses will be in with mildly better mechanics than Oblivion, but no combat. Like previously mentioned, I think if they were going to go all out on horses, it would have been a priority from the start. They wouldn't get into the home stretch of development going "Not so sure about horses...". Take the dragons, for example. They had contingency plans and whatnot depending on how it worked out. Horses seemed to be much lower on the list. Kind of like, "Hey, if they work, then we will do it, but we aren't gonna spend too much time on them". If mounted combat was planned, Todd would likely have taken the same tone he did with factions, "they are in, but we will talk about them later". The fact he openly admitted there were serious problems makes me think mounted combat, which needs a whole new level of sophistication, is very unlikely. I don't think they would improve so much in other areas and throw in an unbalanced and clunky combat system. I think they will make horses feel a bit better to ride, but leave it at that. One last note. Unlike spellcrafting, which Howard admitted they had ideas on how to solve, he didn't mention any "ideas" relating to horses. This just makes me think they aren't gonna do anything to profound.
