How to make an Altmer?

Post » Fri Sep 06, 2013 12:37 pm

I want to make an extremely powerful Altmer wizard but I don't know how. It just seems that the game has nothing for a Thalmor to do. The only guild he would join is the College of Winterhold. Any ideas on want to do with a Thalmor wizard? He's honourable and doesn't like any race apart from the Elven races and Khajit.

He could join the Imperials I guess. But two questlines? Not much.....

Why does it need to be Thalmor?

Call him Michael Bay and use the fireball spell. It's the one with the 15 foot explosion.
Torture Nords.
Kill Stormcloaks and wimperials.

You don't have to join questlines to RP. The College makes sense. If you're RP as a Thalmor Wizard, then it would probably best to stay neutral.

Exactly. I recently made another Altmer and just like my old one, he is a supporter of the Dominion and believes in the concept that Elven Supremecy will come to fruition in the form of an Elven-Centric Dominion replacing the Man-Centric Empire, just their destiny to rule. However, both are completely opposed to the Thalmor.

As for actually making a member of the Thalmor, you are not limited to Altmer, a Bosmer, or even a Khajiit can be one too. However you are correct that they don't really have anything to be a Thalmor. Pretty much a faction you can ally with or join.

Just saying, Altmer/Bosmer/Dominion Citizen =/= automatic Thalmor. I will say though, I love their outfits. Just a same that it's almost impossible to find an unenchant set of robes and hood.

Because I want him to be a member of the Thalmor?

Well....what else could I do? I want a fairly long playthrough.

That could get tiring after a while.

That's what RP is for, don't let the limited things limit your Altmer. Go beyond that. Go after Stormcloak patrols, take out Imperial patrols without being seen, RP you're after Talos worshippers.

Don't let the game limit you.

This game was not meant for people to role-play a thalmor agent so it is going to be really hard to do so. even the college quests has you going against the Thalmor to some extent.

In that part I'm just going to pretend that my Altmer doesn't want that other Thalmor guy to get all of the power, so he stops him.

Well then you pretty much answered your own question. There's nothing for you to do. You'll never be truly Thalmor since they attack you on the road, you can't do the College because of Ancano, you can't really join either side in the civil war since the Thalmor first and foremost wants a stalemate.

Only even theoretical guild is the Thieves Guild IMO, if you think yourself as an agent establishing underground connections in Skyrim.

How are you going to handle getting randomly attacked by the Thalmor Justiciars?

Do a little more complex character development.

Ultimately, (late game?) he discovers that he is actually a Snow Elf. (at this point go to the face sculptor and make him look the part... RP cause?)This makes the certain armor at a point in the DG quest-line a bit more meaningful.

Start him out as a Thalmor Wizard if you like, but have some back story... he was actually found by his mother, hmm...

He refuses to slay Falmer and doesn't really know why.... Uses Illusion to just slip by them...

He could be a little "off" too.. Once he finds out who he really is, he becomes withdrawn and a little hostile towards most everyone...

Mix it up. Think about interesting novels you have read and incorporate some creative back story, usually makes for more interesting play.

One of my favorite characters had a backstory that prevented him from using anything but frost enchanted stuff, frost protection stuff, and frost spells, shouts, etc. Also, he loved hammers. Who doesn't?

I have a couple if alters who are companions. Play as YOU wish, not as someone else says you should play.

My Altmers are harbinger of the companions, arch mage if the college and leaders of the dark britherhood.

What I recommend you do is recreate the plot of a movie or video within Skyrim.

For instance, http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/08/04/mod-of-the-week-gifts-of-the-outsider-for-skyrim/ downloaded a mod that adds Void magic and proceeded to recreate the plot of Dishonored.

These "What do you about Thalmor patrols attacking you" gave me an idea. Why not RP an an ex-Thalmor agent. It would probably be easier. There's a build on the Skyrim Blog that could tremendously with that.

Edit: "The Nemesis" is the name of the build.

Be creative with your character, and give him some leeway. The Thalmor hate Daedra with a passion, but my character has a severe weakness for anything of the female kind and 'somehow' got himself involved with the Dark Brotherhood. But hey, it's a female daedra and he can finally experiment with magic all he wants on the targets, so as conflicted as he might be, it's not the end of the world to him. As long as he manages to cover up his connections with daedra to his superiors, that is.

He also joins the Imperials, but that was with the intention of prolonging the war and keeping an eye on Tullius from afar. It kinda maybe possibly went wrong somewhere somehow, and before he fully realized it he was given the "honor" to kill Ulfric. Whoops. Safe to say his superiors weren't happy at all. Especially his direct boss. Best not to accidentally let slip his (hiding) place for a while in their communication, if he values his life (without too much pain). Cue the Thalmor assassins going after him.

I'm just saying, most stuff are done with good intentions in my rp, but sometimes give poor results for the Thalmor. Your character can't magically know so many factions are involved with daedra. And the Thalmor agent in the College is just an incompetent jerk.

Many of you are right. There's not much official stuff for the Thalmor to do, however there are a many workarounds. For example I'll probably avoid talking to Thalmor patrols and my character will be against Ancano's tactics and schemes for ultimate power.

The thieves guild idea about establishing underground connections is a good one. I'll make him join the college, TG and Imperials.

It wasn't really for me. :( Thanks for the suggestion though dude. :)

Thalmor assassins will randomly attack you no matter what i think. They are not thalmor patrols but a different random spawn with a note saying to kill you for interfering with the thalmor (even if you have not done anything of the kind yet,)

I'm not sure whther he doesn't expressly say he's doing it for Alinor? I don't remember it well. He gets help from a second Thalmor agent (or at least an altmer) to stop you from bringing the staff to the College.

Well, words and actions don't need to correspond with each other. he could just be saying that, and wanting to take all the power for himself in reality. The second Altmer could be a best friend of his who always got manipulated by him or something.

Yep. Happened to me with my Thalmor build. At that point I switched sides since my homeland had betrayed me.

Price of being a secret double agent. Even your allies don't know your an ally, all for the sake of appearances

That works but it also means you have to play a secret double agent, rather than a Thalmor openly living in Skyrim.
