How Do I Make A Bowl of Jewels?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 4:27 pm

In my journeys, I collect a lot of gems and shinies. Things like that gold Dibella statue draw my eye.

And while I'm not a fan of crafting, I am a fan of hording. So I made a plan to collect all the most ornate bowls I can find and in one of my player houses, stack all the shelves and counters with bowls filled with fine jewels.

However, what I find is that when I leave and return, the bowls will be smashed over and the jewels spilled all over the floor. I can't get the house to stop from wigging out and wrecking itself.

Any ideas on how to stop this?

Drop everything on the floor. Leave. Go exploring in another province. Come back. Set up house. Profit?

The problem is that I set up the house and then when I return, it's all trashed. The game can't handle thirty independent objects resting inside of a bowl, so it just explodes in every direction. Is there a trick I can employ to stop this?

Drop it on the ground first. Then leave. Have you tried this? If so, then I would guess the physics engine goes nuts, and you're SOL.

I got my insects in jars on shelves this way though. Previously, boom, all over the floor.

Don't put thirty jewels in the same bowl?

Oh!! How many of them have you found? I have the Torchbug and the Yellow butterfly! I am a big fan of those as you might tell! haha

I had to do the same trick to get mine to stay.

I found all 5, (but I had to look up on the internet for one of them. It was VERY hidden.)

Just to clarify:

I should put the bowl and the jewels on the ground and then exit the house.

When I return, the game puts them in, and then I can place the objects where I like and they'll stay there.

One thing I like to do is arrange all the different Claws the player gets on a shelf in a neat row. They, similarly, are thrown in random directions when I leave and return. But if I dropped them on the floor, left and returned, and then arranged them, they'll stay on the shelf in neat rows?

Good luck. the way the physics engine handles things can be a bit... aggressive. Watch a giant take on a predator going after it's herd. It tries to knock it into the stratosphere, and often succeeds.

Let us know.

Spread all around skyrim. Good luck.

In a few different places all over the world, there are bugs in jars. The bug is already in the jar and you just take it as an item.

If you notice, when your stuff ends up scattered randomly its where you originally dropped it. To test this drop something from your inventory on the floor in your house. Move it, save the game, and load it. You will find that the item is right back on the floor where you dropped it. The above advice works most times. However I've found that sometimes a particular item just wont stay where they are supposed to. So far those have been limited to the items that get installed when purchasing things for the house.

Ive noticed that just recently, after the 1.2 patch yesterday, that my statues of dibella dont fly around anymore. Not sure if the patch fixed it or if it just decided to stay where it was.
