How do i make companions Essential?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 3:22 am

I like playing on hardcoe mode...but I absolutely HATE my friends dying? How do I enter some code to make my companions 'essential' so that they will get up after a bad fight? Or is there a command to 'resurrect' them?

This is one of the things that bothered me about hardcoe...can't stand it when they die. If you're on PC, you can get a mod to make them essential. If you're not, I don't know what you can do except to protect them.

There are other similar mods if you don't like that one.

I ended up finding hardcoe a bit tedious for me. I'd find 11 Missiles in a container because I took the Scrounger Perk but couldn't carry them because of the weight. I've only made it to Level 14 or so on hardcoe and then bailed. :)

Or, if you'd prefer not to mess with the game, you could choose to protect them. Grab a set of PA , a dozen stimpacks and hand it all to your companion.

I'll only play in hardcoe. And if my companions die, I just reload a saved game. It's not that complicated.

You really made my night. I'm a new modder myself and being able to help someone else like the people here helped me...well, I must be learning. I think I'll go look for a new mod to play with. See you in the Mojave. :)

Note to Snowball 99 .....
Down below, is a Nexus link to the most powerful Cheat in the game.
(Since you've been gaming for a long time, you'll know not to use it 'too often').
The sharp guy who built it is a good dude and will answer any questions if you ask politely.
Its called "Cheat Terminal" and is in Doc Mitchell's house in Goodsprings, next to his Vigor machine.
If you look carefully on the floor (under this big 'Cheat' Terminal) you'll also see a tiny, portable Cheat Terminal.
Pick it up, put it in your Pip Boy, and you can use it anytime, anywhere, in your travels (no need to go back to Docs house).
35,000 Gamers have downloaded it. If you like it, give it an "Endorsemant".

DESCRIPTION:
(here's just a few of the many things it can do)...
1... Make anyone of your fellow heros (including ED-E) "essential" or "not essential".
2... Upgrade "regular EDE" to "upgraded-armor EDE" or "upgraded-weapon EDE"
3... Fire or rehire, any of your fellow heros (including EDE) as often as you want.
4... Give yourself weapons, armor, stimpaks, money, etc.

A 'newby' might ruin his game by using it 'too often'---but you're a veteran gamer.
Here's the Nexus link. (When it opens, go to Page 4). Good luck
