it usually happens to me the game starts out fine then lags but I just deal with the slowness. Maybe try that daggerxl mod that improves the graphics and whatnot

you see the numbers at top of the dosbox window called Cycles? pres Ctrl + F12 to increase the number to about 5000, that should help, your game should not lag at all now.

that game is missing a lot of features, if you want to enjoy Daggerfall in its full potential, i recommend staying on the dosbox version, at least until the project is finished.

you can do it in game, just make sure you're not in full screen. http://www.flickr.com/photos/62334159@N07/7393821924/in/photostream/lightbox/ just press Ctrl + F12 enough times to make it 5000, or whatever helping the lagg. the cyrcle thing is the only reason it lags believe me. minecraft is a CPU swallower, so that's something else.

Dosbox does have its own video recorder built in. Just need to press a hotkey (ctrl+alt+f5) and it will start recording.

Three points perhaps worthy of note:

1. You asked whether it may be useful to tweak the DOSBox configuration file. It certainly can't hurt to fiddle, provided that you back up the original file. Pay especial attention to the [cpu] section. Mine for Daggerfall reads as follows:
core=dynamiccputype=autocycles=autocycleup=5cycledown=5
Try running the game with these options. Some people find that cycles=max works better for them; give that a try too!

2. Bear in mind that it is often normal to experience slower gameplay with Daggerfall on a modern computer than with, say, Morrowind; this is because you're running through an emulator, which is inherently slower than the native platform. Reports have it that Battlespire, for example, is frequently very laggy in emulation via DOSBox unless running on a top-end computer. Hopefully playing with the configuration will make it a bit easier for you to record video whilst playing.

3. Since I didn't seem to find anyone mentioning it, and admittedly it is a bit of a long shot, I though it may be an idea to try playing the game with a different reflex setting. Make a few new characters and see whether playing on different settings does anything.

Thanks! :biggrin: And well i cant find dosbox config,I can only find Dosbox Daggerfall config,But perhaps that is what you need? i Downloaded a auto start thing for daggerfall. So i dont need to do that "mount" stuff etc

EDIT:I See that you mean daggerfall config :) Thanks for the help!

I don't know how you setup Daggerfall on your machine, but I used Daggerfallsetup http://theelderscrolls.wiwiland.net/?title=Daggerfall_:_DaggerfallSetup_EN

and it setup pretty wel for my machine, though I made a tiny tweak in the DosBox.conf file:

core=dynamiccputype=autocycles=max limit 70000cycleup=500cycledown=20

"max" tells DOSBox to run the game as fast as your machine can allow. I set a limit to 70000 cycles because the game screws up if it runs too fast (yes it can happen on my machine!)

Frameskip=1 also works well sometimes. Frameskip tells DOSbox to skip X frames before drawing anything, so frameskip=1 says only draw every other frame. This can really speed up the game, and I rarely notice the missed frames--daggerfall's animations are slow enough that you still catch everything (except for some spell casting animations).
