How to make a follower initially hostile?

I'm doing some final touches to improving my mod, a ton of the immersion aspect of the mod is all about faction conflict. In my mod there are many NPCs who will try to kill you on sight unless you join their faction, and you can only join one of three factions, so the other two will be hostile no matter what. Since I found out creating followers could be done so quickly and easily, I figured I should add them to this mod. All it requires is to use the right voice and combine that with a simple relationship/faction thing, well if you intend to make followers that are not hostile to the player by default. The problem is the same faction thing that makes it possible for them to be followers, also makes them friendly to the player, even if the player hasn't joined their faction yet.

Is there some easy way of getting around that, which I don't know of, or am I going to have to use scripts to enable/disable nearly identical versions of these npcs? Here is one of the scripts I use for factions by the way.

Could I make a secondary version of one of the potential followers, and add something to this script that disables said hostile NPC and enables = the nearly identical one? Is that the easiest way of making this work?

If anyone can make a script for me to copy and paste for this function, or if anyone has any solutions to this I would be really thankful.
