How to make footprints?

Hi guys,
For my mod I'm working on I'd like to make a set of footprints on an exterior cell made by a monster simmilar to the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Polyp from H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. the problem is that I can't find a good way to do so. Can you guys think of anything I could do or can you think of a modder's recource I can use?

Borrow a stock flat plane mesh, like the one for ArcaneSymbol01, and make a footprint texture for it. Add this to the CS as a new static, and place it in your cell. If you need it to be more 3-dimensional than that, you're probably going to need to make a new model (or request one to be made for you).

There are basic retexturing tuts at the CS wiki and TES Alliance you can use if you've never done anything like this.
