How to make friends with all factions at the same time

Post » Fri Jan 15, 2016 8:12 pm

The Railroad: Do the quests "Tradecraft" and "Boston after dark". You may not give Desdemona the holotape from Institute and avoid the quest "Underground Undercover".

RR http://www.polygon.com/2015/11/12/9724388/railroad-quests

-----

Minutemen: Do the quest "Inside job" and build the machine to be able to enter The Institute (BoS will not be so happy, but doesn't matter). Sturges will ask you to download some data to Network scanner holotape, back home you can give Sturges the holotape to finish the quest "Inside job". If Danse is nearby in the same settlement, he will really hate what your doing with the tape.

MM http://www.polygon.com/fallout-4/2015/11/9/9696306/minutemen-quests

-----

Brotherhood of Steel: You can do the quests "From within", "Blind Betrayal" - where you can max out relationship with Danse and "Liberty Reprimed".

BoS http://www.polygon.com/fallout-4/2015/11/9/9696326/brotherhood-steel-quests

----

The Institute: You can do "Battle of Bunker Hill" and "Mankind redefined". There are 5 radiant quests to do, but avoid the misc quest "Banish from The Institute" :-)

Institute http://www.polygon.com/fallout-4/2015/11/12/9724276/institute-quests

Update 9. januar 2015:

Into your journal there will be added more quests automatically, but just don't do them now. Just do the misc and radiant quests. When you have downloaded the data to the Network scanner holotape, just don't give anyone the tape unless you have decided what to do. Retrieve the tape back can be difficulty if you choose wrong. To advance BoS questslines you need to retrieve the holotape back from Sturges or RR and give the holotape to Proctor Ingram to be able to start "Blind Betrayal". If you give Proctor Ingram the holotape and forgot to finish "Inside job", Ingram will give the tape back to you.

None of any factions radiant quests will do any impact of relationship unless one quest given by weapon trader at Prydwen. He will ask you to confiscate food from settlements. The settlers may not like that.

Cheers,

-Klevs

You can accept Underground Undercover but you cant complete it and i think you shouldnt free the Synths in a step of the Quest.

You can do BoS Quests up to Blind Betrayal and save Danse but dont finsh that Quest.

Pretty sure you can do any quests you like up until the point you either raid Mass Fusion with the Institute or squeal to the BoS about the Mass Fusion raid. And of course, the Railroad / Institute conflict looks to stall nicely if you just never tell the insider-Synth that you're ready. Pretty sure I could still side with any of the four factions at this point, still. They're pretty good about giving you a pop up warning if you reach a point of no return.

Having everyone allied with me with leads to some interesting situations: in the Boston mayoral vault, hordes of Synths rush in at one point. In my original playthrough, I had to fight them off and it was tough going. But in my current, faction-neutral playthrough, the Synths just walk up and tell me, "Systems fully functional, ma'am." and so on. :)

Thanks for the posts on this. Knowing how far you can go down each Faction Quest-line while remaining neutral to all, is one of the most useful pieces of info in the game.

I like to call us "Frienimies with benafists" meaning that I kill some of the unnamed ones for armor and weapons to sell or if I need a tiny bit of XP to level up.

Can you do the 'Liberty Re-primed' quest too, while remaining neutral?

The only caveat is that if you have Tactical Thinking open with the BOS, it permanently locks you out of siding with the Brotherhood in Mass Fusion until you complete it. I actually think this got patched because in my first playthrough I managed to ignore Tactical Thinking and go straight to Mass Fusion by talking to Procter Ingram and ignoring Kells. This way I did the Brotherhood ending but the Railroad remained alive. Now she refuses to talk to you until you talk to Kells first.

This playthrough I'm going to try not finishing Blind Betrayal (by reporting back to Maxson and getting promoted to paladin) so Tactical Thinking never triggers and then going straight into Mass Fusion. This probably requires being in the Railroad so I can side with them during the Battle of Bunker Hill and thus avoid having to talk to Maxson to warn him or aggroing the Brotherhood by siding with Father. That or completing Bunker Hill *before* Blind Betrayal.

I think as long as Ingram remains at the airport she will let you trigger Mass Fusion. I'm going to try it anyway.

To Jim.uk: You can do "Liberty reprimed", but if you talk to Allie Filmore, it will trigger "Mass fusion" quest where you need to take down The Institute. I use Mass Fusion building to gather xp and stash, I just rerun the location.

So I didn't know not to give the holotape to Sturges. Should I reload or is this something that really doesn't matter? I want to end with the institute a f minutemen.

If you want to end with the Institute and the Minutemen, it really doesn't matter. Just keep going down the Institute quest line. The Minutemen will be left alone.

I never even had the option to give that holotape to Sturges for some reason

Don't you need to give the holotape to the Brotherhood or else Blind Betrayal won't start?

Yes, youre absolutely right. The holotape will also give information about the synths and Danse's code name. I changed the OP a little now. It doesn't matter who you give the tape first, Sturges or Ingram. Both will let you get back the tape if needed. Just tested it. This I haven't tested out, what if you give the tape to RR first, but it makes sense if youre allowe to retrieve the tape back from RR as well, so youre able to finish "Inside job" and start "Blind Betrayal". Without "BB" you cannot advance the BoS questlines as normal.

I gave the tape to the RR first and then I had the option to give it to the brotherhood after but no option to give to Sturges can anybody give me some input as to why? And will I still have a chance to do so? I haven't passed the point of no return with any factions yet

If you gave the tape to RR, you may have options to get it back. When you get it back, give it to Procter Ingram - "Blind Betrayal" will be activated. Finish "BB" and then talk to Ingram to get the tape back. When you get the tape from BoS, talk to Sturges *if* MM made the machine via "Inside job". You can activate the "Inside job" to see where the quest pointer aims at. If Sturges don't let you to give him the tape I assume it's a bug. Let's say if you gave the tape to RR and BoS, the quest "Inside job" should either fail or finish if Sturges doesn't want the tape at this stage. If the quest is still open, Sturges has no options to the tape thing, it's a bug. It's doesn't matter for the MQ me thinks, it just leave the quest open in your journal as not completed.

Based on my experience, you can also do the following:

- Join the Minutemen

- Defend the Castle

- Join Railroad, avoid PAM's mission to eliminate Brotherhood, if you really like doing his side missions.

- Join BOS

- Give the Relay design to Sturges, the Minutemen's IT guy

- This way you will enter the Institute as the Minutemen

- Decline to work for Father

- Kill Father right in that Institutionalized mission

- Killing Father now will make the Institute hostile.

However, nobody will attack you on your way out, unless you wanna grab some Heavy Synth equipments home from the guards.

- Talk to Sturges and Preston to start Nuclear Option.

- Finishing Nuclear Option will stop main quest line for the BOS and Railroad. But watch out for PAM as he'll still give you mission to kill BOS

Take note this is the quick peace ending. This was my first playthrough and this made me miss a lot of main quests due to killing Father.

I'm currently at my playthrough 1.5, which I restarted from Institutionalized mission and join the Institute instead.

I'm following wiki's guide to get the peaceful ending.
