Same way I make Morrowind and Oblivion fun, even though I've played all three games extensively and would "normally" tire of them by now;

I'm waiting for "omg vanilla is so boring mods add much flavor to my gameplay and I would not could not on a boat play vanilla again"

Mods can certainly increase your experience with the game, however they are not required. If you are like some people, and have an imagination, role playing can be very enjoyable, and allows you to see the land of Skyrim through different eyes every time you play a different character.

Maybe you're a Bosmer who lives in the Rift and hunts to support his family in Riften.

Maybe you're an Altmer who wants to avenge the death of his father at the hands of the Thalmor.

Maybe you're an Argonian dockworker at either Windhelm or Riften, fishing by day, and stealing from your boss by night.

Maybe you're an orc who left his stronghold in order to find his own way of life, and develop his own opinions on certain things.

Maybe you're a Dunmer who lives in the Gray Quarter in Windhelm, planning a revolution against Ulfric for his ill-treatment towards your people.

You get the point. Also, make sure to have different personalities for each character you make. They will react to things differently and only do certain things depending on who they are.

Also, you don't have to play the in-game quests to have a story, make your own. :)

You make up a character and how that character would behave and what they're good at and all of that. That is your "role". Then you play that character. Basically it is adding an element of make-believe within the game itself. Loads of fun.

PC + mods.

That should solve any boredom issues.

Since the OP is new, "DID" means "Dead Is Dead" which is where players play the game with the self-imposed rule, "If I die, no reloading. Start a new character."

Making Skyrim fun really depends on what you enjoy doing. If you do not getting into your character (roleplaying and background story to explain why your character is in Skyrim or does what he/she does), roleplaying will not be fun for you.

If you enjoy fighting in Skyrim, setting the difficulty higher will prolong your fights, which may be enjoyable for you.

If you play on a PC, there are literally thousands of MODs that other players have created to enhance gameplay in Skyrim.

It really depends on what you enjoy doing in a game :)

I agree with this so much. Plus, roleplay. Considering much of those mods will actually help into roleplay, its a nice combination.

Role playing can be as simple as finding a "role" you wish to play ie, " Good guy paladin" that helps everyone they come across, so do no "evil" type quests. And that's your only guidelines in your RP. OR can be very complicated.

I would start with a simpler RP, something along this line.

Job: Mercenary ( take jobs from Jarls/stewards and Inn keepers)

Race: which ever one you like

Skills: whichever one's you like ( maybe try some that you haven't used much)

Morals: good, bad.... or somewhat in between. This is going to have a lot to do with how your character behaves.

Pick your "guidelines"... or have none. Things like eating, sleeping, daily routines. Use the HUD or don't. ( I don't on alot of my characters, I use the map, like it was a real map.) There are alot of mods that will help with RP'ing, but it can be done on 360 or PS3 with some imagination. I dim my light settings on some characters so that they need a torch or light spell at night or in caves, ruins etc.

Just remember if it's not fun for you, then don't do it. What I or anyone else finds fun, might not be fun for you. I personally don't find playing " totaly evil" type characters fun.. a lot of people do.

You don't say what platform you play on, it helps to know. Most of the PC people can tell you what mods would be fun to play or add to the game in such a way as to make even the vanilla game more fun.

As for 360 ( and I'll guess PS3 as well). Adding any DLC's you don't have. but here's a ( short) list of "things" you can change that add fun for me.

* turn off HUD

* Dim light settings ( so you actually need torch or light spell)

* turn off some of the sound settings

* music ( you won't know "danger" is their unless you are paying attention)

* I turn most of the settings either off or to middle. ( what I have is bird's tweeting, rocks falling, water running, on most characters)

Just those few simple things change alot. W/O the HUD archery is harder as is hitting your target with some mage spells. You also have to actually learn the roads, instead of just going in the direction of the arrow. W/O the certain music, you won't hear that "danger" music, you have to look around more.

It doesn't really effect anything but RP but one of the things I like to do is have set's of armor ( specially fur) to wear depending on where the character is. On pc of course you can have fur capes. Even my mercenaries will have a set of "town" cloths, sometimes enchanted with what the character might use. ( cause I'm sorry, but it's really hard to "repair" your armor if your wearing it. If you improve your followers armor, they don't stand around in the BVD's. well not on 360 they don't)

Go over to the Oblivion "character update sites" under General and spoilers sections. The stories you can read there are all from- long time- role players...maybe they will give you some ideas along with what's been said here.

Well all the good mods I want are hard to download. All I want is a really fun mod that is easy to download. If it's hard please tell me how to download it and I will be very grateful :)

Yes...I can see how going through the one thousand thread hits using the “search thingy” would be better than my measly short cuts- directly to people that have been doing this for years...thank you.

Move on and come back later or do mods. Whatever is boring you about Skyrim can't be fixed for long with Imaginate.

i am probably going to get water-boarded for this, but...

Take a break and play something else!
thats the nice thing about TES games, after you get bored because you've done everything, and go play another game for a few months, you can come back to with newfound enjoyment and character ideas...

*awaits water-boarding*
