How to make statue resources from existing models?

Hey all,

Does anyone know of a way to take an existing model and turn it into a statue mesh to use as a static/activator/whatever? For example, is there a way to take the model of a golden saint and derive a statue mesh of a golden saint in an attack pose from it? Building from this, would it be possible to use NPCs or even the player as bases for statues?

I vaguely remember seeing a mod showcased on Darkelfguy's showcases which featured statues which looked like they were custom-made from NPC models (so like a statue of a dark elf character in an attack pose, for example), but I can't remember which it might have been. The only other example I can think of is http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43189/? by Melchior Dahrk, where the Hircine statue seems to be derived from the creature.

Yes, it can be done. MightyJoeYoung/MJY did this for some of his mods, if I am not mistaken. Sadly, I am not sure exactly how.

Yes, it can be done. I can't recall the exact steps off the top of my head but essentially you just import the creature into blender, pose it, then apply the skin deformation and then delete the skeleton.

I'm happy to get better info if that doesn't get you to the solution.
