How do we make the bottlecaps now?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 7:41 am

I'll make caps the same way I do in every other open world game...

Steal Everything. Everywhere. Forever.

Take everything that isnt bolted down, then everything that is, then take the bolts, and rip out the floorboards under them, then take a handful of dirt from under the floorboards.

This one has the right idea. This is how I break every Bethesda game and wind up with more money than use for it maybe 2 hours in. Life is great when you have nothing to worry about because, hey, even if the NPC saw you, just kill them and take their stuff anyway--saves you the gamble of pickpocketing!

And then play like a corrupt as hell slum lord, with all your resident witless sorts always "losing" things, because something will always respawn just for you to sell it.

Edit: Don't ever give me a position of power in the real world, it's pretty clear that there would be problems...

Who needs Caps when we're MacGuyver of the Wasteland?

More than likely I'll make my bottlecaps by improving and selling the stuff i find out it the wasteland.

How I'd like to make it: Counterfeiting. There might be enough there for a story. Ruin a towns economy by distributing counterfeit bottlecaps...or restore it by catching the couterfeiter(s).

I will replace Bottlecaps with my own currency, which will have a going exchange rate of one Rust Dollar for every five British pounds, once I kidnap the Queen.

Also, if you build settlements, the raiders will come to YOU! :) Isn't that convenient? Kind of them to bring you all those cool weapons/armor/misc items. Wonder if we are going to get a 'dispose of corpse' option. So the body piles don't get too big.

I'd personally like the growing, decorative groundcover, so yes, an option would be good.

My primary source of caps in prior games was cigarette packs and cartons, pre-war money, liquor, and excess chems. I'd usually hold onto a couple of each type, for when the games decided to be clever and ask for them in dialogue choices, but otherwise it was pretty obvious those were mostly for selling (or I suppose if you played a drunk or addict or something like that). I wonder if any of that stuff will be salvageable for resources? What could you break a cigarette pack down for, plastic wrap, tobacco to plant maybe?

I never really had a problem with caps after a little while. Plenty of things want to kill you and most of them have a few caps and it adds up quick. Then you ran into the quests that paid you handsomely for things like fingers/ears and pre-war books, for instance.

Or maybe a "move to trash heap" option?

Ha, maybe we'll be able to break down raider corpses too! Organic fertilizer, right? Granted there are usually a lot of chems in them, but everything in the Fallout universe seems loaded with preservatives anyway, 200-year-old Salisbury Steak or a Jet Tomato.

I like that idea. :) (good thing that haven't developed 'scent producers' for games yet.)

This. This please. Do want. Raider walls, raider roads, mutant pillars at each corner for accenting, and maybe a pair of crumpled radscorps at the entrance like statues.

That's an idea for a mod... A bottle cap stamp that converts a small amount of scrap into a large [endless] supply of caps.

Same way as all the other RPGs out there.

1. You Find Stuff On The Ground

2. You Pick up and loot stuff on the ground

3. You find the nearest Vendor

4. ??????

5. Profit :D

I was hoping we could do that in the counterfeiting shack in NV...not that I needed the money when I came across it.

I'm sure they'll be traders in your settlement that pay you when the set up shop there. Maybe you can tax the people there too or at least do some costs on their company. Maybe collect restate earnings or whatever. I thing there wil be some fiancé opition with the settlement building system!
