How many and where should the houses be?

Just a little poll I came up with.

I hope that Skyrim has many houses, but not too many.

I hope that Bethesda makes tons of houses and makes them decoratable.

About one per town, some of which might be outside the walls. The houses were something Oblivion did quite well, imo. Maybe have some servants / other people living with you in some of the houses, perhaps the ability to invite certain friends you made during quests, who'd randomly come up with interesting talk or little quests to keep you entertained.

When I first got an upgrade for my house (kitchen) I thought I was getting an extension, not just a poncy table. We need expansions.

Preferably 1-2 houses per city. One house in the more downtrodden areas that may have the risk of getting robbed as a side quest while you have a more upstate house normally reserved for nobles. It would also be great if you could buy a hut in a village for something more backwoods.

I think there should be at least three houses for sale in each city; one small but cheap house, one middle of the road in price and size, and one large, expensive house.

I think if you kill someone, everything that they owned becomes yours. I would like considerable consequences for this as well, though. But, yeah, I don't want to kill someone and then have this abandoned home just around.

A couple homes in each city, a few out in the country, and maybe a few houses to rent.

I am a house freak. I have so many houses it looks like all of OB and MW are one big long city. So yeah, lots and lots of them.

It wouldn't be official though as the guards wouldn't tolerate it. So it would be like stealing a house. But it's no longer classed as trespassing.

although i enjoyed oblivions houses and to this day have only used 1 modded house to date i would suggest that maybe adds one large manor type house. not a castle home like fighters stronghold and not a small inner city mansion like rosethorn manor. i reckon it should have 3 floors a large display rooms 3-5 servants etc.also some apartments and maybe even the ability to be homeless (buy a sleeping bag and sack). as for the number i think 9-16 houses maybe 1 or 2 per city a couple of farmhouses and larger country houses

please not this is only my opinion

Or maybe, houses of the deceased in cities could be auctioned off. The ones in the country would just be yours. Or maybe they could even have a way to falsify documents to make you the heir to someone's possessions, so that way if you can murder them without getting caught, legally everything belongs to you.

This.

Every unowned house can be claimed. Some claims would be easy, some would be even free, others would be contested (You want to claim the king's castle just because someone slaughtered everyone inside one dark night? Well, there's a bunch of nobles and their armies who have a different opinion ...). How and when the houses become unowned is not important here.

Also, new houses should be able to be built, and old ones destroyed.

I'd rather not have Oblivion style housing again, but more choices than the Fallout style. A few choices in the city and a few out in the country would be nice. or if we can't have that, at least don't make all the containers in any abandoned houses respawn.

To me, houses are a huge part of Elderscrolls, and i always need somewhere to keep my stuff. I'll even buy houses, lairs, towers and forts if they choose to release them as DLC.

I want strongholds and more then 1 and I want them to grow for me like in morrowind, and I want different types like one that makes revenue from mining and others that make revenue from farming/fishing/ect,... I would also like mines of all sorts added to the game that grow a little with time and investment to bring me even more revenue,.... and I want the option to buy guards as many as I want to guard them and slaves to work them and as I have said on my post( beasts of burden) I want them all to be too weak to be any real help in a fight all several lvls below me with each type having a pre programmed movement system once you place them like guards move only a little when you place them and will attack anything that is designated enemy by the game always like bandits/mudcrabs/ect,.. and the slaves by type farming slaves act out farming in the spot you tell them stay or enact mining in the spot you tell them stay,. that way they easy to manage in game and no stress on a game engine.

I think they should figure out how many people first will be in the game and then add houses onto that.

I would prefer 1-3 cities (with smaller/more versatile houses). Most houses were unsneakable.
10+ town's
And 50 small settlements.
Obviously thing depends on the map size though in this game. In which I think Bethesda need's to be able to fill the map with nonscripted happenings before adding more land.

I think there should be 1 house for each city, like Oblivion, and also like Oblivion, the houses in each city should have different levels of fanciness and expensiveness. There should also be 1 - 3 houses in the the countryside, maybe a few cottages and one in a small town.

I want to see the sAme amount/style like in Oblivion when it comes to homes, but with a few more options. For example, there can be a cave you walk in to find a friendly troll, who offers to sell you the cave to live in. Just something like that, but with more housing options out in the wild. A treehouse/home out in the forest would be great.

I sure do hope houses will be easier to decorate without walking one step and watching all your carefully place plates explode.

I had the same idea.

I wish that we could buy some pre-determined empty lots and build homes on it.
