How many is enough?

Post » Mon Dec 16, 2013 1:38 pm

I guess most of you have been playing Skyrim since it came out. I purchased the game in March 2012, I believe Beth already released DLC content for this game. Anyway, I was just wondering how many characters you played through and do you ever get tired of creating new characters and starting all over again?

I got the game in June and have created over 100 characters in that time and I still love creating new ones.

I started in Jan '12 and made probably about 50 characters. Some made it through most of the quests that pertained to that characters story while others never made it past level 20 due to boredom of the character. Still make new characters when I play and never get tired of doing so.

2 Years

4,000 hrs

38 characters

... the replay value and creating a new character w/ a unique personality profile is what drives the desire to play this series.

2 years today
6,500+ hours
I have created over 2,000 characters but only played about 250 of them. 20 have died in Bleak Falls Barrow. 6 have died in Helgen.

I be playing this game for about a year and a half and created about 15 characters. Was thinking today, I better stop making new characters, its getting ridiculous, but now that I've read how many characters you guys have build, I can only consider myself a rookie character builder. :D

An unhealthy amount, thankfully I didn't keep track of how many characters I've created, but, um, the hours racked up on the Steam timer is not good...not to mention the, um, amount I spent on my PS3 version prior to Steam.

Do I get bored of creating new characters? Yes. Mostly when I cannot think of a persona that I can stick to, that and the first few quests are a little repetitive now and I don't really like how the alternative starts start.

I rented the game the day of Christmas and continually rented it until I bought it in March 2012.

I've probably made over 30-50 characters. Some with 400 hours under their belt some with 30 minutes.

I haven't played Skyrim since GTA V came out. Good thing too, I played Skyrim pretty much straight. I'm burned out from Skyrim. But I have been thinking of new characters.

Got it for Christmas 2011, so nearly two years by now. I'm in the middle of my seventh full playthrough (which for me means creating a character and play that character's story until I feel it ends, usually after about 150-200 hours and 1-3 questlines). In addition to that, I've had a couple of test characters I've played a few hours each, and I've created several characters that I haven't played yet (and in most cases probably never will).

Most of my characters are very different. I try different playstyles, I do different things, so therefore it doesn't feel boring to start over and over again. Now I'm also on PC, so with different mods and different starts, the game can feel fresh again.

Seven that I actively played. How do you people have time for 50?

I've been playing since about a week after release and have about 1,200 hours in-game, according to Steam. I have created five characters in that time and have finished the main quest with one of them.

1. My first one was a Dunmer jack-of-all-trades type who got me introduced to the game. I got 177 hours out of her anyway.

2. My second was a Breton mage. She finished the main quest, the CoW, the Companions and got through the DLCs for the first time. She was good for 363 hours.

3. My third is an Orc two-handed warrior who I created at about the same time as the mage. He's languished, but I still have his save files and plan to pick him back up some day. He's got about 19 hours in the game.

4. My fourth is a Bosmer thief who uses archery and sneaking with daggers. She's finished the Thieve's Guild and is at the point in the main quest where she has to make the truce in the civil war. She's at the 310 hour mark. I plan to finish the main quest with her and make her a millionaire (she's about halfway there now).

5. My current one is another mage, an Altmer. She's at 233 hours with lots more to do.

Some characters I kill off or play DiD

Quite often I try different mods so that usually means I delete the old characters and start new ones.

I purchased the game when it was released and have 4 characters that have completed the game and one I'm using at the moment who is about 60% through the game. I take a bit of time to create them and then stick with them, no restartitis with me! LOL

December 2011 for six months on PC unmodded. One character.

Then went travelling around North and South America, moved house etc.

Currently in month 7 of the reboot with 387 game hours at level 55.

And a fair number of non-game hours fiddling with mods and getting my rig to run just so.

It is the same character.

Can't let her go Sir.

Ive been playing since 10/11-2011 with some breaks. I cant tell hours for sure, because I used to play on xbox. I have had more than 20 characters at least.

2 years

2000+ hours split between PC & Xbox

8 characters & just started a 9th

No I never really get tired of creating new characters and starting over because I usually play each character for quite some time before I start over again. I don't start a new character until I have a unique story and background thought up for them.

Been playing it since release. Have only played one character since that time with 600 hours put into him. I just recently started a new character so it'll be my chance to play Skyrim again.

Played since the day after release. Numerous characters, too many to count....not sure why i'd want too keep track anyway, i remember the ones i enjoyed fondly. I'm about to embark on another character soon, a spellsword. Then afterwards i'll probably play another stealthy bowman, or go back to one of the previous TES games. Although there are some upcoming game titles that may gobble up my time in the New Year.

Bought at release. 1330hrs. As for the number of characters, the only certain thing I know is I have never completed the MQ past the Thalmor Embassy and have never settled the CW, Never ended the vamp attacks nor gotten far into Dragonborn. I am on PC so I blame the mod makers, SKSE and Nexus for my addiction and inablility to commit.

Got it release day, lost count of the number of characters that I've played.

The only thing annoying about making new characters is the starter zone, wished there was a "Are you sure" before leaving that place like Oblivion.

Anyway, I get random ideas, so I really doubt that I'll stop making characters.

And now that I have playstation plus, I can send my saves to cloud and not worry about them lagging my game!

Jeez, trying to think about all the characters I've made...I dunno, lost count xD

As for making new characters....No

On a whim, I'll make a silly character just for the heck of it.

Sometimes, I get ideas from past ES games and make characters from that.

Like my new Altmer character is related to Queen Ayrenn from ESO.

I haven't had it very long and only have one character so far. He has ignored everything but the MQ and will retire soon, once this dragon business is put to rest.

But I plan on at least four more characters, playing all angles of the civil war (righteous Imperial soldier, guy who through greed or hatred happens to side with the Empire, Nord nationalist in Ulfric's army, venal moneygrubber 'supporting' the rebellion because wars mean profits)...plus an assortment of other inhabitants of Skyrim who strike me as interesting in their own right and may not do the main quest or the CW at all. Like some veteran guard that joins the Dawnguard, or a berserker Nord that just kills all the NPCs that offend him no matter which side of the war they are on.

I got the basic game last Christmas. Played it and one main character for about 4 months.I followed the major quests lines(game heavily modded) and stopped when I felt there was no challenge with that character.I reciently bought DAWNGUARD and HEARTHFIRE and started to play about two weeks ago.I also altered my play style. I'm doing some quests...but a good bit of just exploring in the wilderness and discovering new adventures.i don't know when I will stop, but it could be April 14th. When/if Elder Scrolls Online turns ot to be a great game. THATS where I will be.

PS I'm a 12 year on/off DAOC player.

PPS If you haven't played the SKYRE(Skyrim Reborrn) mod...you are missing something.

got the game release day, lost track of hours played after about 4k. Some of the characters I have created are in my signature, just the ones I liked for one reason or the other, so got saved. I've probably only done about 7 or 8 serious RP's.

I like creating characters and while some never get anywhere in Skyrim, they often have a story just as long as any I have actually played. Long hours driving and even longer hours sitting and waiting ( well it seems that way anyhow) I "write" their stories in my head, It actually helps having a "picture" to make them more alive.
