How many guns do you carry?

Post » Sat Dec 05, 2015 10:00 am

My last two characters never use energy weapons (that will be my next SS). But I always try to carry one gun of each caliber, just so if I run out of ammo with one gun I can switch to another. If a gun runs out or is very low while I'm back at base I'll leave it behind until I can loot more ammo for it to make it worth carrying (at least 200+ rounds).

I am still just level 19 with a lvl 4 strength so my carry weight is just 245. I usually only carry 2 guns, one long/medium range and one short range. The guns I carry depend usually on my ammo supply. I may cut it back to one gun since I constantly pick up guns anyway. I like non-automatic rifles at the moment. More control and less wasted ammo. Helps make every shot count.

Generally one or two because I need the space to carry a million aluminum cans and TV dinner trays.

I vary based on current ammo.

Considering that. I have fully modded out my pipe gun pistol that uses .38 ammo which I have a ton of (well, actually it doesn't weigh anything at all ... but you know what I mean). That plus my Hunting Sniper rifle I could be good.

Got one weapon only, a rifle that fires additional projectile. With petks it does 150 plus base damage so that's all I need. I sell all other ammo to keep my .45 ammo stocked up, usually over a thousand bullets.

dogmeat carries my big boy nuke launcher for those needed moments.

I try to keep my bases covered:

.44 Revolver

Double Barrel Shotgun- my ghoul buster

.308 Combat Rifle

Plasma Rifle for those bullet resistant enemies

.50 silenced sniper for being sneaky

Now if only I could have a lever action repeater to be a real cowboy.

tbh I get a bit worried and spend a long time stressing over what to keep what to get rid of, lol.

But it's good for rp! :)

Currently I'm carrying quite a few for the exact purpose of said ammo limits. I'm only level 14, playing on survival and have managed to find a .50 sniper. This has cut back on my ranged weapons significantly. I also have a double barrel modded with a long barrel and glow sights that staggers. That's a great help for ghouls. I rely on my bat for a lot as well.

Rtiuous Authority

modded into a pistol with reflex sights for VATS kills, particularly swarms of ghouls and raiders, where picking the ones with cover off with crits then recharging the meter on the ones that rushed in like idiots works pretty well.

Overseer's Guardian

modded to semi-auto with a scope for long range, looking for a silencer

Justice

modded with the drum, and silencer, for close range and sneaking (stagger is really useful against tougher melee opponents, and i enjoy that my "subtle" weapon is a shogun)

General Chou's Revenge

obligatory melee weapon

I've been trying out Spray and Prey, and I found a Laser sniper rifle with "chance to stagger". I think if I'd had them earlier (before putting points in rifleman), I might have gone with a Comando build and run something like:

Spray and Prey

used for pretty much everything

Full Auto Laser Pistol with chance to Stagger

used for close range or to keep big melee targets from closing.

Deliverer

in case I run out of .45 ammo or for some weird reason need to blow up less things.

:lmao: Well, yeah, that too. Hell, it did more damage than my Mighty .50 rifle.

Anyway, done with sneaking and sniping, now it's time for slow moving full auto mowing :gun:

  1. overseer
  2. silenced combat shotgun
  3. silenced .50 nocturnal pipe rifle
  4. silenced deliverer
  5. silenced 10 mm ghoul pistol
  6. righteous authority
  7. experiment 18-a
  8. silenced spray n prey
  9. silenced 50 irradiated sniper
  10. silenced assault
  11. Tinker Tom
  12. 38 auto pipe
  13. quad missile launcher

I am about to drop off a few of them but I like having plenty of ammo so I carry lots of guns to switch between. I have about all the junk I need so I don't loot much anymore. I just explore what looks fun and do some quests here and there. Working on my last 5 bobble heads and required reading.

One more than I can physically carry, no matter how much I upgrade my strength...

1. [censored] Grarse V3 (I think you can guess the first word...) - combat shotgun equipped with a hardened receiver and drum mag. Close quarters.

2. Moriarty - Reba II after I got bored with the name. Long distance relationship builder.

3. Mr Happy - laser musket upgraded to six-cranks and beam focuser. Good for breaking the game balance.

4. Grazer Maker - semi-auto combat rifle with extended barrel. Mid-distance relationship builder.

Spoiler
5. Widow Maker - Kellog's pistol.

Also an assault rifle I never use, a pipe SMG that can't nick anything and a fat man for special occasions.
