How many hours of your life will you waste?

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 10:31 pm

200+

I dont buy games often. But when I do i play em for all they are worth

This.

I have probably 300 hours in Morrowind.
Maybe 150 in Oblivion.
But, from how Skyrim sounds, I'll be spending possibly 400 or 500 hours over the next several years....

I'd expect to put over 200 hours on the first character I build. And then build another that's completely different, ... You're only going to play less if you're the type of player that cheats to "beat the game" as fast as possible. TES players don't do that.

I'll probably spend the whole winter playing it. I like nothing better than to sit at home on a cold winter day, wrapped up in a duvet, playing a good game.

Over the course of my life? Easily 200+. I used to play an unhealthy amount, so in 8 years I've already clocked well over 1500 hours in Oblivion AND Morrowind. Plus in the slight veering off from RPG's I clocked over 10 days online in CoD4 (I don't play those anymore though). That's just three games of hundreds I've played.

Skyrim will be one of the few games I own (I'm deliberately cutting down) so I'll likely rack up many hours relatively quickly (even just playing 3-5 hours a week).

If the game is good, then none of the time spent on it will be "wasted". If the game is bad, then either I won't buy it at all or will quickly sell it or retire it permanently to the "bottom drawer, along with my copy of OB. Either way, little or no time will be "wasted".

If it's any indication, I probably put well over 1000 hours (if not several times that) into Morrowind over about 4-5 years (and still play it). Mods keep it at least semi-fresh, and there's STILL a lot that I haven't done (at least 2 or 3 factions never tried), plus I still come across places in the basic game that I haven't visited before.

I estimate that I might have put 50-200 hours into OB, while constantly wondering why I wasn't getting anything out of it. Mods at least got me through the MQ, but after the "bad taste" it left, I still can't even force myself to try the expansions, even though I keep hearing that SI was worth it. I consider about 3/4 of that time playing OB to have been "wasted"; it was fresh and spectacular for the first few hours until the whole world stopped making sense, and everything started to feel either counterproductive or pointless.

Depends on it′s replay value. Probably about 150 to 200 hours in one playthrough.
If the game comes out to be really good as I hope it will, i′ll try it with different playstyles.

If it's anything like Morrowind and Oblivion, over 500 hours. Easily. I had a character save over 900 hours in Morrowind GOTY Edition.

I don't play game straight. But I will probably play many hours on and off over the duration over several years. But like most game I will probably not just sit and play it straight through.

considering i spent 300 hours on a single character in oblivion havin my own dang fun without quest. 100 with another and probably another 100 hours of smaller game saves and times i didnt save. i'll probably spend about 500 hours on skyrim before i finally stop playing..lol

I spent roughly 550 hours in Oblivion on my first proper play through (another 200-250 hours later, putzing around).

Lets see how I do with Skyrim...

Reality? What's that? Never heard of it. Sounds lame.

We'll see how entranced I get. Some games I can put over a thousand hours in and not get bored, Monster hunter for example. In that series I have a total of about 2500 hours spanning three games and i'm still not sick of it.

Not wasting your life if your doing what you love.

Play and live forever. Is that an option?

Precisely! Not a single hour will be wasted. I will easily spend 200+ just like I did with Morrowind and Oblivion. Give me my open world and set me free!
