how many layers do you want?

Post » Thu Jul 22, 2010 8:55 am

a single layer is guaranteed, we had it in oblivion at least. morrowind was a lot looser and from what i have red on this forum is more popular (despite what it did with robes, that was ridiculous)

the first layer (clothing) would consist of simply shirt and trousers/pants/whatever your country calls them. if Bethesda decided to go for it they could probably provide socks and stuff- but who cares?

the second layer- armour, although it may sadly be everything :(
pauldrons (IMPORTANT) Greaves,cuirass,gauntlets/vambraces,boots/shoes,helmet...

the 3d layer would include

skirts, ponchos, cloaks, standards (flags) random totems and collectibles,

4th layer (that is actualy between 1 and 2) would be like extra clothing and armour between the two (chainmail or leather under playe for example) it is the most realistic but i would argue its a little overboard.

3

I basically want Morrowind's clothing system, but they can keep their insane amount of skills. That is a little too much for me lol. All they need to do is balance enchanting and we are good.

3 layers, this makes for great customization and awesome fun. Also given the setting, it makes sense that people would wear quite a few layers

2 max, remember the more layers, the harder it is to make thing match without things clipping horribly or looking out of place

3 would be my ideal choice, but I'd be happy with 2.

not really, perhaps the clipping in some cases, but noone is forcing you to use all the lyaers if you tihnk it ruins your look, that's the great thing about customization :D

true, but if only a handful of mixes would work...why go threw the trouble? Remember there is a bunch of hard working humans behind this, it′s easy to sit there and tell them to add a heck load of customising options.

Just because you may think certain combinations look stupid, doesn't mean other people do not enjoy it. And we don't eve know if any of them woukd. To me an open world RPG is all about options, whether you wanna use them or not, it's great to have them. This also goes when it comes to gear customization, I really want to have a huge amount of customization, because it's my character, it's what i invest my time in when it comes down to it. WIth a single layer there is very little depth of costumization, where as 2 or 3 allows so many more options and unique looks.

frankly I rather have 1 layer that looks good, then 2 layers that might look good in some ways, not in others. But hey I wouldn′t precisely object to more layers, but I don′t want them to add extra layers "because they should"

I don't want the devs to decide "oh this looks good, let's make it really easy just to look cool all the time" cool should be something you work for, and mix and match till you find your own unique look of awesomenss. Customization just ensures lots of different unique looks, some of which may look ugly and some of them may look cooler than any pre-made armor, but it's the option that counts. Besides, cool is doesn't seem that cool if the basic leather armor ensures a perfect match of colors and style

I don′t see why you need to strive for uniqueness if your the only person seeing it.

Because creative types such as myself play rpgs to "build" stuff, aka the character, where it gives us satisfaction to come up with cool and unique armor combinations. I also play minecraft singleplayer and do 3d modelling even though I'm the only one who'll ever see it(or atleast untill I get a job in the businesss), and there is quite a huge community who does the same.

Nooo, your point being? I'm sorry ta burstd your bubble, but the it's the fewest bandits/common fighters woh had a whole outfit made for them . Usually it's a matter of mixing and matching, just like I'm saying I want.

Well I would give up the underware if you think 5 layers is too much.

Three layers would suffice, really, but I'm always along the "more=better" train of thought, so why stop there?

I was referring to the sixy stuff comment, which I am presuming is a joke, the actual layer concept is good, and I like the integration of underwear suggested

My reactions:

Almost me -- except I don't cry. :whistling:

I wouldn't mind socks and underwear too much -- but it's not exactly necessary. Don't think two layers of armor is necessary either -- they're all combinations of different layers anyway -- but fragmentary armor is a must, preferably over a layer of clothing. And a cloak or similar on top of all that. Perfect.

My version of King H.H.'s reactions would be more like:
1 - :verymad:
2 -
3 - :celebration:
4 -
5 -
>9000 -

Anything from 2-5 =
Anything over or under that =
