So how many maps do you think will be in game?

Post » Fri May 14, 2010 11:34 pm

So far I only saw one or maybe two hopefully there is a good amount with some variety. I kinda hope there to be an underwater thing like in bioshock. :gun:

That person was just basing the number 12 on previous SD games, its not confirmed by any stretch.

It was just a guess. And a fair one at that really. 12 going both ways would be a pretty nice number.

As stated before, we obviously have no way to get an educated guess as to the number of maps, but considering that all of SD's maps are being designed for multiplayer with no single player mode to speak of, I wouldn't be surprised to see (/unrealistic) even more than that.

However, I don't really think we should really worry about the quantity of the maps, but rather the quality, and that's not even taking modded maps into account.

I seriously need to break down and buy a PC that can play games.

*only partially remembers reading about community tool set for Brink, ie, I wouldn't take my word for it before getting a source*

Also, there's the whole Mouse aiming with less aim assist issue, tbh the broad side of a barn would kick my ass in a TF2 Scout 1v1, be sure you're ready for it.

Even if there were "only" 5-6 maps, each of them is seperated into different parts which are about the size of a small-to-medium common multiplayer-map. So like you have 32 (16 avatars x 2 looks) avatars in theory, you'd have ~20 (5 maps x 4 parts) maps in theory.

Maybe I'll be super ridiculous and go with both the PC AND the xbox. I just want in on all the mods that people make.

12 Maps for the Start would be nice.

But Nerds need more Stuff after 2 Months :hubbahubba:
Because they release the Game over Steam i think, they will implement more Content by the Time.

And i think, this DLC isn't for free.

Simple solution for SD to keep the game alive: SDK for PC, let the community create everything and then port the most popular stuff to the consoles in a free DLC. That way SD can focus on patches, maintenance, creating female characters or something.

You do realize Micro$oft is never going to go for that right? I'm not entirely sure how their DLC policy works since once in a blue moon an XBOX game might get a free DLC, but notice how none of the extra maps TF2's PC version has have made it to the consoles, hell even L4D's console maps are being charged for.

With an SDK and map ports they can atleast choose to lower the price. Except porting, they don't have to sacrifice man hours for these maps.

There is surely four maps!

- The one in Container City ( the main gameplay vid )

-The one in the Ark showing the "super" button and a lot of characters

- and two more ; one in the C.City when you see the kinda sniper (with the barret .50cal sound) and the other one in ark.

That's my point of view !

This is a kist of currently known maps:

- Container city
- Reactor (In one of the videos they mentioned it)
- Shipyard (see main website)
- Airport (See dev diaries)
- Aquarium (Confirmed somewhere)

We assume that there's also a weapon depot/jail when you look at the pictures and the founders tower as well.

You mean the founders tower? I think it really is a map, atleast they gave a hint somewhere.

Also, I never heard of the hospital map, but it sounds reasonable. Could you perhaps give a link?

The Aquarium was first brought up by concept-arts named "Aquarium" showing some kind of sewer-system and later confirmed in an interview (from Eurogamer Expo, iirc).

In The Last Stand you get a great overview over some maps: There is Airport at 00:27, Reactor at 00:29, Airport (again) at 00:31, Shipyard at 00:33, Container City at 00:42.

Just by watching the Dev-Diaries again, I come to think that just about every single question asked in the last few days could be answered with "Watch the Dev-Diaries, goddamnit!"

I believe the "jail" pictures you have seen are actually the wall that separates container city from the rest of the Ark. The refugees have to pass through multiple checkpoints when going to their jobs, and then again to get back home.

Does make sense.

Let's keep it at an "unconfirmed". It could mean a lot of things.
