How many people actually listen to the music in Fallout 3?

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 8:24 pm

It seems to me that most people don't tune in to Galaxy News Radio when roaming the Wastes. I have always wondered why. There's nothing more comforting than listening to the sounds of the 40' and 50's while you're brutally murdering every and any NPC you happen upon.

That last comment was not meant to be, in any way, sick or disturbing. For those of you who were unsure it was simply a joke. :woot:

But I'm straying off topic. So as I was saying previously, I personally enjoy that genre of music. Don't get me wrong I am a huge fan of Dubstep and Rap but I still like all those classic songs that were popular many decades ago.

So my goal is to find out how many Fallout 3 gamers actually listen to the music in the game.

*PLEASE RESPOND.* and THANK YOU!

The music, in effect "clouds" my hearing, making it difficult to hear creepies in the dark moving around. I find music in general destracting when im trying to focus.

I enjoy me some dub too, but none of that "wub wub wub" crap.

I never play the game without listening to Galaxy News Radio. The music is half the experience for me. Every now and then I listen to the music on Spotify as well.

I'll tune in, every now and then. I agree with Echonite on how the music distracts me and also makes it harder to hear enemies that lurk in the distance. I always turn my radio off when hunting, as it could alert enemies and also disrupt my technique. But whenever i'm in town, i'll always turn the music up and listen to all the oldies. Sometimes i'll even start listening to the propaganda going on in the Enclave Radio, too.

Typically I'll have GNR on while trekking 'bout the wastes. Nothing better than listening classics while riddling those odd Enclave fellas with lead :)

I don't play the radio because I like hearing the music on the radios when I walk into a location such as a bar. I also find it odd that in a hostile wasteland someone would be dumb enough to have a radio playing.

I do because I really don't like Inon Zur's music for the game, I think he did a better job with Fallout Tactics and New Vegas, his music for F3 was just too "generic epic fantasy" to fit the game.

I find it hard to believe some people dont listen to all those awesome songs GNR plays.

Note to self ... complete Threedogs quest before you kill him.

I usually don't.

But I have the FO Music mod ( All FO series music, background, battle etc ) and most of the background music in it is better then FO 3 s radio.

I enjoy GNR but I listen to it when I'm at home. When I'm out in the wastes, I need to hear the sounds of my environment. An explosion in the distance, barking dogs, a snorting boar, crickets, an eyebot floating by, molerat footsteps...those are all the music I need.

I listen all the time, but not when I'm doing stuff. Only when I'm organizing my crap, or standing outside at night waiting for something to open... like the Megaton store. And yes, I do actually wait instead of fast time.

Well I appreciate the fact all of you took time out and actually responded to my post.

And yes I do agree music can sometimes be very distracting. :bonk:

i'll throw GNR on once in a while when travelling out in the open. but it seems kind of immersion breaking when you're sneaking up behind a raider and your radio is blasting away but they still don't notice you... "hmm what's that music slowly getting louder... must be in my head... oh dear i've been shot!"

also i can't stand hearing 3 dog talking and howling... if there was just music i might be more inclined.

usually i just listen to my own music when i play.

I've turned the ambient music off. Usually it's nothing inside, because I can't hear footsteps over the radio. Outside, it's a mixture of all the stations. Sad violin music while gunning down Enclave Hellfire Soldiers = Priceless. :foodndrink:

Yeah, I do listen to it from time to time. I do really like the atmosphere it creates, for example you're out roaming the wastes, haven't seen anything in quite a while, slowly strolling past old beaten down houses you've probably forgot where there and there's galaxy news radio playing in the background. I do like the atmosphere it creates sometimes. Other times I can find it annoying and of putting.

I'll turn on random radios around the wasteland, but I won't have the pipboy radio on as it's too distracting with all the random stuff running around.

I really like the music tracks that play and even Eden's propaganda because they add to the feel of the game, but can't stand Three Dog.

i did when i first got fallout 3, the cheery music clashed so much with the violent world...awesome. Although i wish they had gotten a dozen or so more songs...i mean they have to be public domain by now right?
