How many people are going witht the theme?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 1:56 pm

Considering I always start ES games with a Nord melee character I will stick to this theme. Plus my goal is to eventually make my character look as much like for forum avatar as possible.

If I'm playing as a full-on warrior or brute, then I'll be a Redguard. Period.

This thread makes me wonder....How many people started with a character like the Oblivion ad guy. Constipated Imperial in Blades armor, anyone?

I would wager that a good 75% of players of Skyrim will NOT choose to be the ad stereotype.

I probably won't choose the ad style. I might even start multiple characters at once this time, too.....

I hate low fantasy and I am not happy that SK is moving in that direction. I know its because every one else is doing high fantasy right now but thats for a reason, low fantasy turns any game into moronic grunting hack and slash and its petty and self destructive to do the oposite of what every one else is doing when every one is finally getting it right.

EDIT: oh, and if you haven't guessed, I play as a breton.

and its petty and self destructive to do the oposite of what every one else is doing when every one is finally getting it right.
Yet in my personal view (and the devs' team apparently) it's exactly the other way around and what everyone else is doing can't be much further away from getting it right, so I dunno what you're really getting at

Though I'm pretty optimistic that they won't reduce it into some kind of banol moronic grunting hack and slash that you fear of. I like my fantasy settings sustained by a deep, non-linear and engrossing fantastical elements at its core yet comes in a nitty gritty quasi-realistic way of presentation. It just feels more convincing as this very fantastical alternative world that you can pretend to live in, in my opinion.

Nope, none of those. Argonian Mage all the way! Would never play as a nord....

I'm probably going to go with a well bred Breton battlemage, thrust unwillingly into a harsh and unforgiving landscape, forced to adapt and get by as best she can given the circumstances.

Nede (Harder version of Nord) Magi (illusion, conjuration, alteration, one-handed, enchanting, smithing) [Much more interesting than your standard Brute)

Nope, Breton Assassin Female. I would go deeper into the character but I don't want to bore you. Nords.... psssst, all they have between their ears is air!

And hair, and muscle.

<- Breton female as well :)

As of now, I'll be a stealthy Dunmer. I'll probably be a Ranger, short sword and mace, with throwing weapons for close range, bow for long range.

but if they make hand-to-hand better I might be playing a Breton Monk.

i think my first save will be me as my personal playthrough..so it will probably either be nord or bretton depending on the facegen selections.
ill leave the RP characters for later.

I would play a different race but I've been playing a Nord since Morrowind and I don't intend on changing just because I'm afraid there will be too many people playing as a Nord character,

i think playin as the theme could work if you pulled it off right, but still it will be on the back burner for me because i always like starting my first playthrough as a redguard

Breton female Adventurer. Blades / Block / Light Armor / Alteration / Destruction / Illusion / Restoration. Exactly like my current Oblivion character.
Illusion is a surprisingly useful skill in combat. Paralysis and blinking in and out of invisibility while waving a sword around is surprisingly satisfying.
I just hope the vanilla spells have decent amplitudes and durations this time. Having to recast Shield or Fortify Strength every couple seconds was not fun.
