11.11.11 How many people going to midnight release

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:47 am

It really svcks for me, I checked on the calendar last month and found out Skyrim comes out the day after the end of year exams start, the ones that count for most of my subjects as more than half of my final grade. So when Skyrim comes out I have two weeks of intense study until I can play. I thought last years exams were hard enough, now it will be hell.

Well look at it as an awesome reward for kicking ass at exams! :D

@Richard Rhal - depends where you go really, helps to go with a group of mates. For Reach I went out to the Pub first then walked up there towards midnight and grabbed my copy and went home for the fun. :)

Is a midnight release confirmed? Would be awesome but don't expect one, maybe in the US but don't think germany will get one ...
However I am always a big fan of having a disc and not just a file (what also may be cause of my bad internet connection^^) So I would join it.

Hmm, just had the strange idea of putting on my Deadmau5head, making party till the doors open and then bashing everyone out of my way with those big ears :D

I loved Oblivion, and still do; I wee my panties at the mention of anything Skyrim related. But waiting out till midnight to get a game is just sad. No object is worth waiting for at that time, and for that length. Kinda like the Royal Wedding.....cept I don't love the Royals, or wee my pants at their mention... :shakehead:

The forums are pretty much going to be dead till E3 so I though I would just make a little poll to see how many people our going to the midnight release. Thanks

Hmm.... How do you vote if you plan to pick up the game at midnight so that you can get an early start in the morning, but don't play to play all night?

Nov. 11 is my birthday so I have a non-geeky excuse to skip classes.

Now that is a nice coincidence!

I normally don't do midnight releases because game releases are usually in the middle of the week, but since the game comes out on Friday, and I don't have class on Fridays, I definitely will.

Me and my friend are already trying to find someone to give us a ride to and from the local gamestop because we both know we will be completely high of that 'new box smell' you get when a really good game comes out.

I'm going to wait for a couple of months before buying it for several reasons.

1) Giving Beth the chance to patch up the worst bugs. My apologies to you all. You are going to be my QA.
2) Getting concrete information about DRM and if the game needs an internet connection. After the Dragon Age 2 scandal, I'm not taking any chances. Any sign of Securom or online activation, and I'll find something else to play.
3) After a while the construction set will hopefully be released, so any potentially bad design decisions can be corrected by the community.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but my tolerance has gotten lower over the years, both regarding gameplay as well as DRM. If something stops me from having fun in a game, then the most logic thing to do is uninstall it and find something else to do. There's always Morrowind.

Will probably start playing it whenever the ruskies get their executable decrypted. I wonder if Skyrim will use that or not...

I'm going to go to a midnight release, find the first person to buy the game at that store, kill them with a spear, then go home and play all night.
Maybe do a bit o' homework somewhere in between the waiting and killing bit.

My guess is that even if you are able to get a physical copy early, it won't be unlocked until 12:01 am PST on 11.11.11.
