How many people here are nords?

Perhaps because there's no such place as Asia on Nirn?

I'd say High elfs and Wood Elfs.

Haha, ok then "Asian-like" Races, you know what I mean. :P

Being Japanese I can't really connect with of the Elder Scrolls races. But I usually just play Imperial.

I'd always sort of seen High Elfs as being somewhat Asianlike.....geez I hope that doesn't sound racist? Its not meant to.

Although its peoples aren't playable (without modding), don't overlook Akavir for asian influences in TES.

I guess I'm a nord. I'm germanic, tall, have blonde hair and blue eyes and love winter. But I hate blunt weapons.

Pretty much the same here, except I'm not overly tall, but my hair is long, eyes are blue, love the cold, and I love blunt weapons, as well as axes and blades.

Skyrim is announced and suddenly half the forum is Norwegian. Or maybe the population was always that skewed, though I can't imagine why that would happen.

I think what a lot of people don't neccessarily realise (or say) is that if they're not actually Scandanavian (ie born there/live there) they're not. When I worked in America I had a LOT of people come to me and say they were Scottish. I'd ask where in Scotland they were from and they'd say 'Oh I live in Wisconsin but my grandfather's uncle was Scottish'. Yeah you're not, you're American.

Define "Nord." TES Nords are mostly Anglo-Saxon with healthy doses of Scandinavian and Celtic. I'm mostly Scottish with a bit of Irish, a bit of Dane, and some other things. So I suppose that makes me part Nord...? Sorry, though, fair skin and dark hair, I look like a Breton. ;)

I'm American so I guess that makes me a boring old Imperial. Though, I'd like to think I'm a Nord in spirit. My name, Dustin, comes from the german word Torsten which is from the Old Norse word Tórsteinn which means Thor's Stone. Plus I'm very into Norse Mythology. One day I'll grow a beard and drink mead... But for now I'll just have to be happy with playing a Nord in Elder Scrolls. :sadvaultboy:

Edit* I also forgot to mention I love the cold weather and have seen my fair share of fights :toughninja:

Eh, I'm a European mutt. But I drank a ton of mead last night, if that counts for anything! The honey was derived from lavender and hibiscus prone bees, very flavorful and sweet.

Im Norwegian, and with partly noble bloodline *flex*, my mothers mother is descendant from the man, Knight Rane Jonsson, who was convicted for the murder of the danish king Erik Klipping, stabbing him with a knife 40 times.
He escaped to Norway, and later joined in on several attacks on denmark. They had some children with the daughter of Earl Alf Erlingsson(Norwgian earl and second only to the king) before he was executed in Denmark.

English with a little bit of Irish. More of a Nord than some but I have the pale skin of a Breton. Oh well.

What they meant is their ancestors were from Scotland. I am an American, that much is pretty obvious, but I have Scottish heritage. My mother's maiden name was McGill, and that speaks for itself. There were too many families with that name to trace back my lineage, but I do know that my grandfather came to Canada on a boat from Scotland. It would be ludicrous for me to actually claim to be from Scotland when I've lived in California my whole life.

Elaborate?

Oh I know exactly what they meant. But when someone comes up and says 'I'm Scottish', it's just not true if they're American. I had no issue with people who said 'my family is from Scotland/my ancestors are Scottish' and would happily speak to them for a long time.
