How Many Players Can We see fight in Cyrodill?

Post » Sat Mar 22, 2014 9:07 pm

Im just curious. How many players do we actually fight / see in Cyrodill on each side?

I dont know if the Devs made a video of that or not and if someone can find the video, can they link it.

But still how many can we see?

200, 500, 800, 1000 on each faction?

I took a screen shot in beta of a major battle... i would post it if 1.) I knew where the file was stored for ESO screenshots. 2.) I knew how to post a pic on this forum.

I would estimate there were close to 500 players on the screen from both sides... doesn't mean that is the limit, just means that was what was in the area.

So as in Ebonheart Pack Had 500 soldiers and the other factions had 500 as well?

No, I was estimating there were about 500 players total on the screen. I'll post the screen shot if someone can tell me where the in game screen captures are stored.

There are 2000 players in the campaign. that is roughly 650 players per side.

The game can handle 200 people on screen.

No you will see more, but if you have more than 200, your computer goes hotter than the surface of the sun(well, not THAT bad, but pretty bad).

Well my computer is designed for running ESO on ultra high graphics and other games. So in Cyrodill there will be about 650 players on each side I hope?

But outside of Cyrodill there will only be 200. Correct?

well if everyone in every faction happens to all be in the exact same place? Then maybe...but that's never going to happen.

well, due to phasing, yeah outside of Cyrodiil I would expect about 200 per phase. but, if you had the entire factions army in one battle(which never happens, no matter how much you may want it to be so), the game would most likely melt your house down and boil metals...

Alright just making sure theres at least going to be a good 1000 or 2000 players in Cyrodill. Because that part of the game I am extremely hyped up and excited for.

Seeing large armies going at it.

Rather than seeing 50 people on Alliance and Horde in WoW for PvP matches. That just doesnt feel immersive to me.

...yeah. I'm just going to not touch this one. I will say don't be completely disappointed if you don't see 2000 players all pvping on screen.

I dont think he wants that. I think he wants to know there will be 2000 players in cyrodiil, not in one battle.

Yeah in one battle is far too much. 200-500 players going at it on screen? Then yeah Im definitely okay with that.

Cyrodill is a big place. It is highly unlikely that you are going to see all 2000 players in the same location, and you really wouldn't want to.

Do you have a 6.00 ghz CPU to handle that? :P

I have 3 graphics cards, All nvidia, 1.80 TB for my hard-drive and can run ESO at 30-60 FPS on Ultra High Graphics without lag during beta.

The game in AvA is CPU bound and your GPU does not help one bit.

You should be good by staying above 4.00 ghz, but dont expect the game to be "smooth" with hundreds of players on screen.

30 fps isnt smooth for me. But yeah its playable.

On planetside 2 with the same amount of players on screen (and a lot more graphic effects, better graphics and bullet drop) i stay above 45 fps, there is a lot they can do to improve the code.

I'm just disappointed I can't crash the server with my Void spec AE, forcing them to nerf the animation the day after I brought it down during a relic raid.

Unless there's a CPU-eating AE animation to spam.

Screenshots should be found in the My Documents\Elder Scrolls Online folder.

first stress test i was on we had a three way going on scourge campaign. DC was trying to take a keep from AD and us (EP) didnt realize it and ended up EP and DC were skirmishing on the side as both of us were sieging AD. broke the walls down and met inside and were fighting over the keep door. was a very intense battle to say the least. i would venture to guess that there were about 150-200 there at that battle and my 3.5ghz never over heated...as funny as that would be..the game client would throw a fit and crash long before it did any dmg to your pc lol.

Yeah, there is definitely some hyperbole and nonfactual statements in this thread about how your CPU will handle the number of players. There are some definite choke points, for example bridges, which causes massive battles. Also you can find major battles going on at resource farms, keeps, towers, etc. The game engine handles the massive player counts pretty well. I was impressed having played MMO's since the beginning of time and know how you can lag out if you get a lot of players on a target. Not so in ESO Cryodill.

Go try PlanetSide 2. It's free. The PvP scale should be similar. There is room for A LOT of people, but rarely in a war will you see everyone in one spot.
