How many Save Points did you create?

Post » Sat Jun 12, 2010 10:13 am

I'll be the first to admit, I got to the point where I had to start deleting old save marks to create new ones.

Coming from Fallout and Fallout 2 the tendency to save is within my blood haha

I just keep 1 manual save plus 1 autosave. Though for the DLCs (Dead Money included) I tend to keep a save just before I head into them in case of emergency. I save over it again once I return.

I save really often but I've always hated having a lot of different saves, in any game. I *hated* how I constantly had to delete saves in the Witcher for example, it created a new save for each autosave.

I have 2 save points (in addition to the ones I constantly use/overwrite). One before accepting the final mission for Caesar (and similiarly there will be to accept the others') and one before getting to the last fight/conversation (and so will there be for all the endings for different sides). I just love the ending slides, like finishing a good book.

3 maybe?
Don't really bother with having more than that.

Same here in general, but I do want to have the endings at my disposal (for some odd reason :P) so I keep those reserved.

Well I also have 6 other saves, one for each character, but I only keep 3 for the character I play as, when I move on to the next I remove two of the older saves and start three new saves for the new character.
So overall I have 9 saves for 7 characters.

I keep a lot of them in case I need to go back to test my mod.
But there comes a point when there are too many and it causes problems in the menu, so I move them off and fix it so I'm starting a save #1 again.

Had to start deleting old ones. Xbox kept saying that the disc was unreadable once I reached save 47.

Sounds reasonable. I have 3 shared saves for each character in addition to the endings and couple of random situations that I think I might try again later, so it makes 7 saves in total. Normally I only have 3 (as I don't end them more then twice, if even that many times), but with games like this I like to cherish every ending I have.

You have 200 separate saves? How do you manage them, or do you even manage them?

Usually two or three saves for each character I have made, but am not currently playing. (The characters waiting for upcoming DLC, mostly)
I keep two or three out of fear of accidentaly overwriting the data and losing an entire playthrough in the process.

For my current playthrough I usually have about five to ten saves.

At the porch of Doc Mitchell's house save plus 10 additional hardsaves and naturally quick and auto. Same for Fallout 3 and Oblivion (except no autosaves on Oblivion, they are called CTDs :P).

I turn auto save off. Then I save every 100-300 yards in case of freezing.

about 117 so far, lol. I create a new save point every time I save, mostly because I'm worried about the save files becoming corrupt as they have done so in other games.

I'm a bit paranoid since a F3 save of over 50 hours got fubar'd before i beat the game and i had to start over, plus ive overwritten saves or messed them up severely, so now i keep 2 saves per character and "leapfrog" them every 20 minutes or so. Luckily i've never had to use any of them.
edit: In total i have about 10 for 5 characters but i've deleted over 20

I keep one auto save in place and several hard saves just in case if the game frozed or something. I usually delete very old ones and if I want to do another playthrough, I transfer some hard saves and the auto save from my last playthroughs onto a USB stick and go from there.

I've found long term stability is impoved if I never overwrite a save so I may get up to 20 saves before I delete them down to five or so.

All said and done i will use about 30 save slots per character, i save just before any major plot point has to be decided just in case i want to undo the choice. I also make sure that every major save is done on a 5 or a 10 just to help keep it straight. In the end though once a character is completed the game i cut and paste each collection of saves in a different location under a folder with the character's name and a brief text file with some details like build, and choices so that i can keep my characters straight. This is also handy if in the case of DLC that has been released after the character completed the game it is simple to just copy the saves back in run the DLC and redo the last mission according to the choices of the character build, hence the text file. Bit anol i know but i spent alot of time with my ladies and have a certain attachment to them all even my evil legion supporter chick although it is not so much sorrow as pity i fee in her case.

I have 181 so far. I leave auto save on, but I don't rely on it. I quick save a lot, and make hard saves at certain points throughout the game. I'm still on my first play of FO:NV, I stopped after the previous patch. I got tired of waiting for the patch to fix the patch and started up Fallout 3 again, which I have 161 saves on that game. I keep all of them too. I still have my saves from my first character of Fallout 3, which is 286.
