I plan on selling all my gold to Obsidian in exchange for the ability to get all the unique weapons (ie YCS/186 vs Alien Blaster) whether you have Wild Wasteland or not.

Am I the only one who thought making it so you either get one or the other was a.. dare I say.. dumb move? Especially considering completists such as myself.

I think it's great. I never take Wild Wasteland. I don't want any of its crap in my game - including the Alien Blaster. I'll give them all my Sierra Madre gold just to *keep* things the way they are.

I avoided reading anything about Dead Money other than the promotional materials, so I didn't know about the glitch. I'm not worried about it anyway. I grabbed my four bars, went back to the casino, discovered that the highest bet in slots was 25, when to the tables, won my 10K from blackjack and realized that if I got only 6 back from each of the pre-war money, I'd still have more in weightless CASH than I got from 140 lbs of gold. So all told, I walked out with about 85K give or take.

You make out like a bandit exchanging chips for pre-war money with the Cashier...if you have a high barter you can get 10-12 caps per pre-war money back in the Mojave. Back in the Mojave a chip roughly equals 1 cap so you're better off cashing in all your chips before you leave and relying on the vouchers to build a balance back up. Next time I'll cash in all my remaining chips before I leave....and maybe sell ingots to the holo-vendors to get thier 2500 pre-war moneys as well.

Cleaned the place dry. Wish I could stack them in my Novac house pyramid style, like they were in the vault.

Non-glitcher, so I only took four bars of gold b/c I'm more interested in .308 BAR's than gold ones. I just didn't know of anything I could do with $300k that I couldn't do with $30k. But I know a lot of things I could do with a couple of automatic rifles....

Do people really want these things for the money? Dou you actually sell them? You can get way more weightless money by just converting your chips into pre war money and selling that.

And there are so many easy, easy ways to make cash in the Mojave you don't need the bars.

So stack 'em up somewhere. Turn the abandoned bunker into a bank vault. Bling up your hotel suite.
Find some secluded place in the wasteland and make a little shrine.

They're the only Gold bars you'll ever see. Caps are everywhere. Why get rid of something unique!?!

Screw the gold by the way.
I just tried out the weapon repair kit vendor thingie.
And guess what?
It breaks the game sooooo hard.
Go kill some super mutants and fiends.
Take their weapons.
Use weapon repair kits on them.
Sell them, and rake in the cash.
Seriously, I have 19.000 chips on me right now and can buy a crapload of weapon repair kits.
I never need to bother picking Jury Rigging again, I never need to worry about money either.
So the gold?
I can't even drag the gold bar once I drop it out of the inventory, so placing it in my home is annoying and unnecessary.
Screw the gold!
Weapon repair kit code is where it's at! :disguise:
(Obsidian, you should patch the vendor so that outside of Dead Money you can only get 5 each day.)

Post Here if you pried all the gold from the vault!

I managed three bars, I had a hunch that you had to leave them or die. I'm just happy I trapped Elijah there, I suppose he'll have something to occupy himself for the next few days of his life

You make it sound like you had to choose.....I got out with all 37 bars and the six BARs I found in the course of the DLC. Not to mention the two dozen Police revolvers.

I'm suprised it took this long for the calls to nerf the Vending machine started. Don't forget you can get 40 stimpacks per voucher...that has to be a crime against nature. And have you seen what the BAR does to Deathclaws? Something must be done, this DLC is a giant stealth "Easy" Button!

The vendor is broken, players should not have to nerf themselves or "avoid" features just because the game developers couldn't balance them right.

I got 37 Gold bars from putting them all in Father Elijah, and running out.

He gave birth to 37 WONDERFUL golden children.

Which I have... locked away in my chest in novac..

Please explain this in more detail. Did you put them in his corpse and manage to run out carrying him, or did you RPP them onto him and get him to chase you back to the entrance somehow?

I killed him dead, put the Bars in his body, picked him up and threw him/dragged him until I finally made it.

It was troublesome, but I managed..

No. No. No. No no no no no no no no no no no.

You know what breaks the game? Bugs that corrupt save files. THOSE are game-breakers.

You know what DOESN'T break the game? The vending machine in the Abandoned Brotherhood of Steel Bunker. To my knowledge, using the vending machine does not actually break anything.

It needs to remain unchanged.

I am so sick of this idiotic statement that gets repeated like some sort of wisdom around here. By this "logic", they should remove Caravan too. I can make thousands of caps in minutes if I choose to.

"OMG, there's something that I don't have to use, but when I do out of my free will, it makes the game easy so it's all broken herp derp"

Exercise a bit of self control. You actually have to go to the Bunker, collect the chips, go to the machine, and actively select what you want. If anything, you're not not avoiding game features, you're going specifically out of your way to (ab)use them. Don't blame the game, blame yourself.

Don't blame the game, blame yourself.

I'll blame the game.

Or, well... In that case I guess it wouldn't be too much to ask that Gun Runners have 10.000 of every ammo type they sell available every 3 days.
Or that all doctors have 1.000 Hydra, Turbo and Superstimpacks on them.
And that Silver Rush has 10.000 MFC, ECP and EC every three days as well.
