How many of us...

I'd appreciate it if you could just stop complaining about it, if I may be blunt. It's getting beyond silly.

Nope.
I don't think that patching it would require a lot of work and see no reason why they shouldn't patch it so I'll keep complaining. ;)

You don't have to use the [censored] thing. I've never used it. The great part about an open world RPG like Fallout is that the player can play it the way they like. Of course, I'm neither so childish or egotistical to believe that if someone else wants to use items that make the game easier, that they are wrong, or that the game is somehow "broken", but that's just me.... Especially when the player has to actually go out of their way to obtain said items.

On a side note, I really do find a staggering amount of people these days find the whole concept of "personal responsibility" to be foreign to them.

Grow the hell up.

Don't really wanna, way more fun being 8, I can ride the space-ship ride at the mall without people staring at me. :D

Seriously though, not backing out of it, you keep going with the "Don't use it" argument and I keep going with the "I refuse to nerf myself and ask for game balance through patches." argument.
We're at a dead end.
Won't lead anywhere.

It's not "nerfing yourself". You're specifically choosing to break the game for yourself, and then you come in here and whine about it like you're imparting some grand wisdom to the rest of us. You're just making yourself look stupid... repeatedly.

Won't lead anywhere.
It'll lead the same place it's led us to so far... which is the last sentence I wrote above.

1. It's not "nerfing yourself". You're specifically choosing to break the game for yourself
2. And then you come in here and whine about it like you're imparting some grand wisdom to the rest of us.
3. You're just making yourself look stupid... repeatedly.

1. It's nerfing myself because I can't play the game the way I wish to play it without breaking it's balance.
When the game gives me something then I expect to be able to use it without the difficulty level land-sliding down to lolcat level.
So I ask for game balance, "But you don't have to use it" no, I don't, but why shouldn't I?
Why should I "have to" avoid that thing just cause the developers couldn't balance it properly?
"It's far out of the way", yes, it is, it is far out of the way, but even so, why should I "not" return there?
I bought Dead Money, why should I not be able to enjoy it's content without having to worry about game being too easy?
I consider it nerfing myself, having to avoid a feature, even if it's far away, just cause it's unbalanced.
Like in FO3, we weren't "forced" to play with a 10 END character, so we had the "choice" to limit ourselves to 1 END in order to have "some" resemblance of balance.
And that was self nerfing.
Now, the vendor isn't a permanent thing on the player character and it's secluded to it's own area, but the fact still arises that I have to choose to not use the feature cause it breaks balance, just like I had to choose 1 END in FO3 in order to have balance.
I made a choice with 1 END, that was self nerfing, I make the choice with not using the vendor for the same reason.
How is that not self-nerfing then?
2. Not really, just asking for a patch.
3. Okay.

I'm done with this trolling BS. Waste of my time.

Just when I thought I was out....

So, let's break this down.

  • You want to use the DM vendor to get weapon repair kits.
  • You don't want to be able to get 100 at a time. -- Right, I'm with you so far
  • You deliberately and of your own volition get 100 at a time.
  • You then say the game is broken because you only want to be able to get 5.
  • Herp derp.

Well, when you break it down into it's component parts like that, no you're complaining doesn't sound at all ridiculous. Not one bit! :lmao:

Trolling?
I'd take the trolling, were I you. The other option is rather less flattering.

I am so sick of this idiotic statement that gets repeated like some sort of wisdom around here.
I'm neither so childish or egotistical to believe that if someone else wants to use items that make the game easier, that they are wrong, or that the game is somehow "broken", but that's just me.... Especially when the player has to actually go out of their way to obtain said items.

Bingo. Self-restraint. The dead money vendor is a perfect example. You actually have to go out of your way to use it, and then you whine that "it's broken". Seriously, WTF?

Try just not whining.

Yeah I'm done here.

I'm in the "don't use it" camp.

To say "that I shouldn't have to nerf myself" seems kind of egotistical..

Considering thier demand is that everyone should be forced to play the game the way they think it should be paid....egotistical is an understatement.

Possible with a hex editor? Maybe he picked them all up and used a hex editor to adjust the weight of all the gold bars? All up they should really weigh only 10kgs (22lbs).

Wow thats bad. I mean really how can people struggle for money in this game ? Its everywhere.
I mean dont you people loot anything ? I am swimming in caps, I spent them all on 15 blocks of c4, and am now going to get more (for more c4 that due to price I will likely never use... Caeser was a special occasion worth the effort)

I struggle. And I do loot everything. I sell it all, too. But unless I: 1) collect Snowglobes or 2) exploit merchants, I am *never* swimming in caps. I can't figure out how anybody could be unless they were gambling with a Luck of 10.

yeah, you can mod on 360, you can mod gamesaves. Of, course its not to the extent of PC modders, but its better than nothing. I still have a save file for FO3 where i can use the liberty bombs, and his laser...... So....much....fun.... :fallout:

That statement is redundent..... The way you are wanting to play it is breaking its balance. We cant help it if you want to abuse the game mechanics.
Now thats not really that big of a deal, what i really wanted to say was that. With things like this that so called "break the balance" Some people like them, some people dont.
If you take it out of the game, 1 camp happy, other camp mad. And there's no way for the unhappy camp to get happy. On the otherhand if the camp that doesnt like things that break balance, choose not to use those things, then everybody wins. People can have there balance by not abusing game mechanics, and people who want to, can abuse.

Well the patched out other exploits like infinite exp bugs and snipers over power so I don't see why they shouldn't patch out another exploit.

How is the "Easy Button" you paid Obsidian for an "exploit"? It dispenses as much of a product as you have Sierra Madre chips for, and to enable you to use it they give you thousands of SM chips a game week. Do you think they didn't notice that they're giving you about 2500 chips a week and stimpacks only cost 25 each? I bet if there was an Achievement for power-buying stims and weapon repair kits from the vending machine you would have earned it within hours of returning to the BoS bunker. ;)

Maybe it's not an exploit but a design feature. Ever think about that? There for the people who want to use it? The people who don't want to use it (like myself) don't have to? Never used it. No need, no interest.

You really think that, given that ALL the machines in the SM were "shop until you pop", this one should be any different? Actually, given that you were able to buy as much as you wanted IN the SM (or could afford), which was obviously designed into the game, I would like to see you explain how this function being repeated unaltered in the VM in the BoS bunker is in fact an "exploit", as you just claimed.

This. But wait, there's more!

I don't even get weekly chips. I got 250 (something like that... but *hundred* not *thousand*) one time. Maybe if you win 7k in the Sierra Madre Casino you get thousands weekly. If that's the case, then once again you have to go out of your way to earn this kind of reward. Hours out of your way. (and, without proof, I'm not going to believe than anybody can win that amount in under a couple of hours of gambling). Or maybe I'm just glitched (but I don't think so because I've been through the DLC with 3 characters, no gambling, and none of them get a weekly stipend in the Abandoned Bunker).

If you don't want something that you consider "game-breaking" (god I [censored] that term) then don't go out of your way to get it. If you do go out of your way to get it, don't [censored] that it's ([censored] here we go again) "over powered" or a threat to your delicate "game balance" sensibilities.

Honestly, I find the 'self nerf' complainers are pretty much doing the "____? In MY Fallout? NO I DO NOT LIKE IT IN, I AM SPECIAL SO MY WANTS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE AVERAGE PLAYERS"
