How many years have you played each TES game and how many ye

Post » Tue Apr 12, 2011 12:27 am

So going back, I played Morrowind for 3 years, Oblivion for 4 years and hell I'd still go back and play Oblivion again if I wasn't PC'less at the moment. So that being said, and given the fact that so many of us are old school players going back to Daggerfall or even Arena. How many years have you played each TES game and how many years do you think you'll get out of Skyrim?

I see no reason why I wouldn't get another 3-4 years out of Skyrim and if modding is fully supported more than that (I haven't kept up, I'm only an occasional poster here).

Okay well I played Morrowind for about two and a half years, then Oblivion for five. So going by that Skyrim should last close to ten years for me..:)

Daggerfall Ive played on and off, never really seriously.
Ive played morrowind for seven years. It is the best game I have ever played hands down.
In Oblivion there really was no point in staying with the same character once you had done the small amount of quests, and I have less hours on there. Still 2k+ though.

MW = 2 years
OB = 2 years (only after finding major mods like TIE, OOO, or Nehrim)
Skyrim? Unknown if I'll purchase it....seems to be leaning too much towads combat and a life simulator for me

I couldn't agree more, and the fact the devs said they are going back to some of Morrowinds roots has me giddy for the new title.

Combat and life simulator? Isn't that the point of TES games?

Arena: 20 min
Daggerfall: 20 min
Morrowind: 30 min
Oblivion: (don't know ~had a 26th level character though).

Skyrim: Don't know... Depends on the mod toolset, and my results with it.

Bethesda-Related games.

Morrowind = 9years (Extensive, mostly graphical modding though)

Oblivion = 1.5years.

Fallout 3 = 2 years.

Other Games. For comparison purposes only.

Mass Effect = 2.5 Years

Mass Effect2 = 1.25Years

Red Dead Redemption = 4months

Sins of a Solar Empire = 3Years

As for where Skyrim will fit in? That entirely depends on the game. It'll come down to two things, first and foremost, the depth of the world itself. Something Oblivion really lacked was world depth, though Shivering Isles fixed a lot, but it was too little too late. Secondly, Playstyle variety. I'm optimistic here, because of the perk-tree system. As long as it doesn't suffer from Fallout 3 syndrome, where there is an overabundance of good-t-useless perks, that make the choice totally linear.

Well still play them, mostly Morrowind and Oblivion now, modding greatly increase games lifespan.
There other games thats released between another TES game release, but they a mostly short and boring with artificial lifespan increase with achievements and miserable DLC, sometimes I think better play an multiplayer game then spend time on such crap, even having most of consoles doesn't make me happy, then making mods and maps for PC games or another session in dungeon crawl games or Indie games.

I predict playing Morrowind for the rest of my life. Also, I might replay Nehrim. I might try Daggerfall when DaggerXL releases. But I am done with Oblivion for good. I hope Skyrim will be closer the Morrowind this time.

I have played Morrowind since about 2 weeks after it was released up until today (so going on 9 years). For the first 5 or so it was a nearly every day affair. I still play it on a semi-regular basis because it is probably the single greatest game ever made.

I played Oblivion for about 6 months before I shelved it. I will occasionally pop it back in, get out of the starter dungeon, sell all of my stuff to Thoronir, and then stop playing it again.

I waited until all of the mini-packs were bundled before I bought Fallout 3 and I enjoyed the RPG aspects of it. The Oblivion aspects were noticable though and they are the main reason I don't play it as much as I could.

If Skyrim takes after Morrowind, I imagine that it will become a long term addition to my hard drive. If it takes after Oblivion I will probably donate it someone I don't like.

Arena - few weeks

Daggerfall a year for one character.off and on

Morrowind- 7 years averaging 7-8 months each, since 03-04 still play because of mods, I l've only beat the MQ once, I've never beaten the Tribunal or bloodmoon MQ purely because of mods and oblivion, it lasted so long because of mods and the sheer amount of faction quests and vanilla content.

Oblivion - 3 years, since 05 never beaten the MQ purely because of mods and morrowind, only because of mods do I play it so much otherwise a max of maybe 2-5 days worth game life for me.

Skyrim - pfft no idea, it better not bomb damn it.

Skyrim will be like Skyrim. All we can do is hope it's nothing like Morrowind.

I think its hilarious, the polarity between folks who loved MW or hated it and vise-versa for Oblivion. I think what most of us want from Skyrim in terms of "following in the footsteps of MW" is a sensible questing system where the baddies don't magically level up with you thus defeating the purpose of advancing in the first place. Thats what the devs have indicated and all I am looking for imo.

This thread isn't really about what games better MW>OB>Skyrim. It is more on our projections on just how awesome this game is going to be. It still blows my mind that Skyrim may very well be the game we've all been collectively waiting for. Encompassing the complexities of Morrowind, the streamlined gameplay of OB with improvements from the Fallout series into the perfect TES game.

I'm stoked and as long as mods aren't out of the picture with this new game, it will get years of gameplay out of me (so long as my computer holds up).

So.. When you say you want it not to be like morrowind are you talking about the poor graphics to today's standard, poor combat that was a result of the tech for that time, and text base dialog that resulted of that time? Because beyond that irrational reasoning I do not see a problem.

I think Morrowind was a step in the wrong direction following Daggerfall. Don't get me wrong, I like Morrowind, but I digress. I don't want this thread to transform into something else.

Skyrim will be like Skyrim.

I've played Oblivion 4 years, sometimes however with month long pauses from the game entirely. Mowwind I've only played 15 hours until I realized it's not quite my thing. I think I'll play Skyrim at least as many years as Oblivion, but it depends on a lot of things.

I didn't have a computer that could handle Oblivion when it came out and by the time I could play it FO3 wasn't too far away, and this greatly extended my Morrowind playtime and curtailed my Oblivion playtime - after enjoying all of the refinements FO3 made to the Oblivion engine it was hard to go back.

I played Daggerfall for about 12-18 months.

I played Morrowind on and off for about six years.

I played Oblivion for about eight months

Fallout 3 I played on an off until FONV was released, so two years.

I suspect I'll be playing Skyrim for a long while.

Donner, I was very much in the same boat, I was running an AMD 2200 xp with a Geforce 5200 fx card. Luckily mine wasn't so old it couldn't be upgraded and that old computer has lasted me until just a few months ago. I feel I got much more mileage out of that old work horse computer than I perhaps should have.

Time for a new one methinks, something that will run Skyrim as high as I can get it.

Played Oblivion for 5, and Morrowind for about a year, because I only bought it a year ago :D. I also played Fallout for a good year. And NV for about a month. Need to go back and finish that game off.
