How to maximize the effects of Enchanting as a mage

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 9:54 pm

I have around a 40 enchanting skill and the Black Star, which is easy to get grand souls, but my enchantments I can make all svck terribly and it's better to wear even Novice Robes over them.

Anyone know how to make use of enchanting other than multiply the value of an item for generating profit? I need more health and a faster magicka regen, if anyone can give me hints on how to make some nice items that way.

Liberally salt the enchantment perk tree with points. Additionally, find and drink enchantment buff potions. And finally, I'm pretty sure there's enchantment-buffing clothing and jewelry you can find and use.

They will continue to svck for a long while. If you power level it you will see some benefits somewhat early, but otherwise until you have come close to maxing it random crap gear you find will be better. It is one of the things I hate about crafting, you don't really use the stuff you make much across most levels but when you have finally mastered it it is generally a lot better than the stuff you find.

Anyways, disenchant and enchant things often. Even a petty soul will help a lot towards leveling the skil. With the right enchants you can make a lot of money as well. For weapons the big one is banish, it is worth tons of money, paralysis is solid as well. Fortify carry weight seems good for the items that can take it, and on shields resist shock is the best I've seen so far. Basically buy up the stuff needed to make iron daggers, make a bunch of iron daggers. Buy/steal petty soul gems, go kill weak mobs. Enchant things like mad, rinse/repeat. I'd say for ordinary play around 75 you start seeing enchants that are as good as the crap gear you find, assuming you have perked the tree(center line for mages), 80+ you can start making good gear. This happens earlier if you power level the skill at a low level.

You'll not make hardly anything decent until 80 skill (taking that first perk to 5/5). Almost everything you can buy or find will be better until then.

First thing to know is that the +magicka regen bonuses on armor and perks do not work in combat, and if they do they are so negligible that they can't be measured.

Secondly its know that the +magicka regen that you can craft can't be as powerful as those found on dropped robes.

Additionally, spells scale in mana cost by an insane amount, and in many cases you won't be able to utilize them properly OR AT ALL without reducing their cost with Fortify . For example, there is a master tier spell that costs 1222 mana by default, and it's damage does not scale close to the rate at which it's mana cost has increased.

Thus this is a long way of saying that you want Fortify much more than you want fortify magicka. And anything is more useful than +magicka regen.

I have all the perks and a level 100 enchant skill and it still seems like all these enchantments svck compared to what I had to disenchant to get them.
