How much are you willing to pay for Skyrim?

Post » Sat Jul 09, 2011 11:43 pm

Of course it's ridiculous it's an extremist personal opinion. Just be glad I'm not in charge because if i were there would be a lot of bannings for repeatedly hitting Beth below the belt.

Yeah, right.

Just be glad im not in charge or no one would be banned because I would want to hear ALL opinions not just ones that whispered, yes yes its perfect, thank you let me pay you 1000.00 dollars to buy it.

I don't mind the occassional ridiculousness, but 'extremist personal opinions', that will only serve as flamebait and incite any sort of behaviour we'd rather not see here, should be kept to yourself.

I'd be willing to pay the standard retail price. Nothing more.

Big difference between paying your 60$ and voicing your opinion, good or bad and out right saying that Bethesda is a shyster and 60$ is robbery.

It's the nice thing about having a small fan site opposed to the giant out of control hate fest this site is sometimes. When someone comes on my site spewing Bethesda svcks, I ban 'em, they don't have anything to offer this community anyway so why encourage them?
Bethesda doesn't have that luxury nor will they or their site's mods defend them against slanderous attack.

Fair enough. I understand that developer bashing is against the rules but you can't just reprimand people for bad mouthing Bethedsa because it makes Beth look bad. Catch 22.

I'll be so happy when the game releases so i can move to the modding boards where 99% of the pop. actually like Bethesda.

I'll bet you Skyrim will be more than 50 dollars, we'll have to find out on 11.11.11

Depends where the PC gamer buys it. In the store it would be more, but on Steam it would be that or less, depending on your region.

I don't believe any of the moderators reprimand people for critizising Bethesda, because if we did Bethesda would be very uphappy with us. We reprimand people for the way they express their criticism. You know, vulgar, gross, rude, forum-rule breaking language.

But that's besides the point. I made my comment because of what you wrote, which wasn't critizising Bethesda but polarising the community. You're free to disagree with me all you want, but if you choose to, please do it by PM. Thanks. :)

I wonder if all the people saying 40-60$ know that the poll question isn't what you want to pay but what you would pay at maximum, If come 11.11.11 the cheapest copy i could find is $250 I would for sure buy it, $1000 is stretching it though but if i had the money I would do it.

I can't disagree with you or any of the other mods here because you do a good job. I'm just a little over zealous sometimes but I'm trying real hard not get myself banned before release(only got one strike left) and then i'm home free. I'd be a lot better off if i could tear myself away from these boards but the draw in overwhelming. I just can't resist, i'm losing sleep as i speak and there is nothing new here, WTH is wrong with me? All i can do try to behave myself and i'll tell you what your tone goes a very long way in helping me do that. Thank you.

Probably around $200...

4x the price of a new game these days... 35x the content.

I would not pay more than $60 at release (or $70 for special edition). I love TES but not that much.

Here in England PC games tend to be £10 cheaper than console games on the day of launch (even though it's the same game). Does Anyone know why that is?

In terms of what I will pay........ as much as I need to. It will be the biggest game until TES VI comes out in probably another 6 years so it will be worth it. In reality it will cost me £29.99 for PC or £39.99 for the 360

Well I will stay with what I said. Paying 50 for PC max, if it is more I can wait and buy it at a later time. And I sure hope(hope, not force) other PC players agree. There never was a good reason for the recent trend of pushing PC game price to 60. (If anything, SC2 at least had the reason of having had an insanly long production cycle, but then EA decided to jump on the bandwagen and make it average price for many of their games)
Oh, and off topic, but I like hearing that the mods won't bann us for our opinion, thankyou.

I would definately pay more than the average game for Skyrim and so I am curios as of how far the fellow forumers would go to get their hands on this game? (price wise)

Vote honestly, what is the most you would pay?

Can't vote honestly- I don't see any "Eventually the GotY/other compilation edition will be in the $30 range and then I'll get it" option and that's been my purchase plan since the game was announced.

I would pay at most $99 for the collectors/limited edition. At most.

Why would I pay more than the asking price for a game? This country gets screwed with game pricing already, I wouldn't want it to get any worse.

Personally, I can't really see why so many people say that 60$ is way too much for a video game.

If I go to the theater and watch a movie and buy popcorn I usually pay around 12 Euro (I don't consider the fact that 1 Euro is more than 1 Dollar, because game prices are 1:1 usually) for about 2 hours of entertainment. With a good game I usually don't get less than 10 hours of entertainment and that's 60 Euro. That's the same price per hour and I don't consider the fact that games (and especially Elder Scrolls games) often offer more than 10 hours of entertainment, at least for me.

I don't know how well that translates into $-prices and I don't want to offend anyone, but that's just how I think about it and I really don't have a problem with the prices now. Also you have to consider inflation and other economic influences when thinking about why the prices raise over time.

I would be willing to trade roughly one fourth of a graqefruit for this game. Yes I actually do want to play it that badly.

I said that especially Elder Scrolls games offer more than 10 hours, of course I'll be playing it fot at least a few houndred hours  The 10 hours were just an example, because no full price game should offer less I think. If I like a game and knew it will offer just 10 hours I'll still buy it.
