How Much Area Do You Think Will Be Covered

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 8:15 pm

That would be nice. I'd prefer it if we had to do some things to get it running, though. I wouldn't mind getting it with it fully working, but I'd prefer if we had to "work" for it.

Agreed.

Though, I'm not a fan of putting a car(s) in the game. But if it was put in, I'd prefer it as something you have to earn and not somethig that is given. And more over, something that is not a commodity. Maybe just one car in the game which is gone if you loose/wreck it.

It's not Fallout without the wasteland. Hopefully, it will be a larger area than FO3, but with a similar number of points of interest. Both FO3 and Oblivion were too densely arranged. Oblivion was actually the worst of both worlds, having completely unrelated dungeons on each others doorsteps, while still being a pain to travel without fast-travel. Getting from place to place in FO3 was more interesting, but things were still too close to each other (ie, unrelated faction outposts within a grenade-throw)

I don't care about the layout, as long as it provides at least 500 hours of gameplay!! Ha, ha!!! :gun:

Pretty sure the Hoover Dam will be included, since it's a short jaunt southeast of Vegas. What do you think is powering all those city lights?

I would think including areas like Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Mt. Charleston, Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam would really give a lot of variety and provide potential for creating some really beatiful areas. Though it might be stretching it a bit, perhaps they could make the western rim of the Grand Canyon the eastern border of the map; that would really make for some unique landscape. Using the Spring Mountain range as the western border of the map would give a great geographical range I'd think.

I just like the way Mad Max portrayed raiders. They had more charisma then Fallout 3's raiders.

I see. I was starting to think you had some sort of fetish. Maybe it's my fault for being sick.

I would expect it to be around the same size as Fallout 3, with Vegas being something like the size of DC.

I think it will be bigger because of the way Vegas is actually laid out, We aren't a massive urban sprawl like DC or New York, we're big but that's because we're spread out, connected through the freeways. Not many surface streets really connect here. So the Strip will probably be the center for that department.

and whatever is powering the city is MASSIVELY POWERFUL, we are one of the few cities that you can see from the Moon because of our neon out here.

Good to see I'm not alone in wanting a much bigger game world! In the other forum I frequent, I'm practically the only one who wants the wasteland to feel like a wasteland.

Unfortunately, you're all Oblivion fans so I hate you anyhow :P

Not all of us, please don't hate me. :P

And yeah, the gameworld should be bigger and less densely populated.

And from that, it's pretty easy to guess that other forum :P

It'd be great for the wasteland to be bigger, things were just a bit too close for me. Something between the size of FO3 and Oblivion would work :P. And it'd be cool to have some more mid-sized settlements, the population density of cities was a bit lacking... I want more areas that are sparsely populated and areas that are densely populated :P

I live in Vegas, and i can see in the trailer they they the stratosphere(large tower),so i don't know what buildings they are putting in exactly, but i'm guessing the main iconic ones. For the rest of the city, its depends what time period in Vegas they model it after, because this city has grown alot compared to the 60s Vegas.Don't forget the multiple air force bases around Vegas,or lake mead.

I really enjoyed exploring the actual capital part of Fallout 3. I would have loved being able to go into more random buildings in the capitol. Just get rid of all the darn sewers. It was creative that it was in the game, but I just didn't like how much time I felt like I spent down there. I gladly would have traded sewers with larger/more open capitol.

I hope that the city will not be that large. More empty wasteland with just some random encounters, please. It realy kills the immersion when you either have to hop over cliffs all the time (Fallout 3) or if there's always some stupid molerat encounter ready to waste your time (Fallout 2).
Something like in Fallout 1: Uninhabited little towns, some big sand desert area with high-level enemies..

I would have thought that since the dam needs to be leveled and drained at certain times of the year, the nuclear fallout that according to the timeline caused a ten year winter all over the place, would have frozen, then overflowed the dam, causing it to break.

Which leaves me wondering the realism of having the Hoover Dam still functional.

In Van Buren, the Hoover Dam was a major town and a member of the NCR.

Van Buren has never been proven to be canon though.
