How Much Area Do You Think Will Be Covered

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:27 pm

I'm starting to wonder if New Vegas will be central in the player's world map, or more like the Capital Wasteland, with the major city in a corner. I actually loved that aspect of Fallout 3. Any thoughts on this and what surrounding locations from the previous games could be included?

I'm thinking it'll be the same size as FO3. Unless the team is a bunch of hamsters on coffee.

Could be bigger, though, if they drive for more wastelandy feel with less compression.

Yeah, true. FO3 had a lot of things going on in small areas. I guess if they make it an actual wasteland, it can be pretty big.

The only problem is that I highly doubt that anything is out in the desert. Let's be honest, if you've ever been to Vegas than you know that alot doesn't live out there for a reason. They could add vehicles due to that factor.

True. And we are dealing with more of a desert environment than the Capital Wasteland ever could hope to be. This could build upon Bethesda's location arrangement, which I adored: dense & deep locations, few and far between.

I wouldn't mind that. In FO3 the only place it really felt like a "desert wasteland" was up north. I like it when it feels like that. Especially if you're low on ammo :[

Wonder if we're going to be near unstoppable in NV. I guess that's not for this thread, though.

This idea, logically expanded upon, could open up the game for possible vehicular exploration. Thoughts anyone? :tops:

I hope we can grave rob again. I hope the area will come in contact with NCR at least some of their remote out posts. I would like to see some locations from fallout one and 2 or at least hear people talk about them. Other then California there should be some locations from Arizona and Utah.

Oh yeah. What type of vehicles do you think there could be? Small makeshift things or full on jeeps like in Tactics?

Of course, all of this is speculating that New Vegas will be the same size as the capitol was in 3. For all we know NV could be even bigger than the capitol was, considering how much of it was not destroyed and in pretty good condition from what we saw.

Mad Max inspired Junkicles.
Plenty of skulls, bullhorns and junk attached for that personal touch. Or if you're a raider the occasional slave in bondage gear.

Moving right along, I am hoping for a larger area, with settlements spread out and open, desolate sands between.
Then vehicles become viable. We could have some Raider/Brotherhood/etc. vehicle patrol routes, a la Borderlands.

I totally would imagine makeshift vehicles. I never played Tactics, but it makes sense for that type of game to have jeeps and reconnaissance vehicles of sort. I think this type of speculation all depends on the time period this game is set.

That raises the question of whether it takes place before or after FO3. Maybe during the same time? It's a spin off, so we can't really say after for sure.

What about The Chryslus Motors Highwayman seen in fallout 2?
Spoiler
Highwayman could be found in the Den. Its missing part, the fuel cell controller, could be found in Gecko.
The battery can be charged with either Micro Fusion Cells or Small Energy Cells. A full pack of SEC (40) charges it up 20%, a full pack of MFC (50) charges it up 50%. It could even be upgraded. In a City Like Vegas I am sure some Highwayman have survived.

That would be nice. I'd prefer it if we had to do some things to get it running, though. I wouldn't mind getting it with it fully working, but I'd prefer if we had to "work" for it.

I would like that as well. I would like to see a Highwayman again I would like to have to find parts and fix it up. Or find people that can. It has been done in fallout 2 yea but so what who cares? :P It takes Power cells so you have to make sure you have enough or it will run out of power.
