Im so poor :( I dont think I've ever had over 20'000. But then again, I do love collecting every single piece of armor and weapons, and every pre war clothing in the entire game :D

How did you get so many? Breaking the bank at the Strip casinos will only net you around 40K...so where did the rest come from?

Nope, I used a glitch they patched and I cleared my hard drive cache so I could use it again. Simple explanation, at the Vicky and Vance Casino(when it aopens back up) when you trade caps for chips, they give you the chips, but they don't take them back when you cash them in for caps. So you can just keep cashing in chips for caps and get infinite money.

Plenty of methods. Most involve knowing what weapons you are going to use. Like deciding at the start that I will only use weapons affected by the Cowboy perk. (Brush gun, LA shotgun and mysterious magnum) Every other weapon I collected and sold. Had enough Strenght and Endurance for the two perks that increase carry weight.

Just collect everything and sell it if you are not using it. Also get liked by the Caesars Legion so you get a steady supply of legion coins. They weight nothing and they give hundreds everytime you loot their boxes. I have a ton of caps, but I have a lot more money in legion coins.

I don't know the exact numbers, but I tend to buy ridiculous amounts of ammo, meds and guns.

My current character has almost 40,000 caps and just walked out of the Sierra Madre with over 17,000 pre-war money, which is worth over 120,000 caps at his current Barter level.

Speaking of pre-war money and it's value, does anyone else find it odd that 1 stack of pre-war money is worth more than 1 Legion Denarius?
A singe Legion Denarius is made out of silver, while a stack of pre-war money is useless paper!

In case you are wondering, a single coin is worth 4 caps (not affected by barter) while a single stack of pre-war money is worth 10 caps and IS affected by barter.

On my last playthrough my character only had about 5 Luck so the casinos weren't an option. I also didn't do Dead Money on account of it being a Hard/Dead is Dead playthrough. the most I had was just over 100 000 caps and this came entirely from scavenging combined with the Jury Rigging perk. Getting NCR hit squads after you helps great deal. Their armour and weapons are worth a great deal more then the Legion assassins'.

The most I have ever had in a playthrough where I have beaten every casino, including the Sierra Madre, is about 300 000 caps.

In caps.. I have about 80K, give or take a few thousand. But I also don't trade in my NCR, Legion and pre-war money, so I have a buttload of those too. All told I'd guess I have 90-100K. This is mostly through jury-rigging expensive weapons and looking in every single container I come across.

EDIT: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198053081900/screenshot/541798319031132018 is how much I had right after 'Dead Money'.

Well, silver and gold are only valuable because we make it valuable. They're not particularly useful in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Maybe if the NCR has heavy industry back home...?

I'l take some caps...down to 450 at level 7. Very Hard difficulty is tough as I am very low in Barter, focusing primarily in combat skills until I feel comfortable enough to put points in there.

Very hard difficult is easy, but it true, it affects how much you actually use of your caps on ammo and meds.

The most I ever had was 20k. Right now I've got 1.5k. Waiting to go to the Sierra Madre though, will try and take every last one of those gold bars.
