Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 11:22 pm

hello all,

all the question is on the subject.
a friend of mine said that a 2GB memory graphics card is too much for that job

I'm running Crysis 2 with the High Res Textures on a GTS250 1GB so 2GB really is overkill.

I usually hover around 1240mb on my gtx 570hd which is equipped with 1280mb. I am not sure how the game utilizes sytem memory and vram.

Shared system memory can be juggled around and used as graphics memory anyway. I certainly haven't had a problem running high res textures and dx11 with 4GB of system RAM and a 1GB video card. I don't know what they are playing at, telling people they need 8GB and a 1.5GB card.

I use 1.5 VRAM in SP and about 1.2 in MP, my card has 1.5 VRAM but i do remember someone who had a 2 or 3GB vram card sayin' that it used about 1.8 VRAM.

As memory should, using what memory it can to do the job faster and better. More memory you have, more is used, less you have, less is used. That's generally the rule of thumb for memory.

8gb of vram here :) Total overkill but with DX11 as well as HD textures i still get hit hard. Not because of the lack of memory, more do to bad optimization.

I have 896mb on my gpu and it runs Crysis 2 fine... also if you want to use the High res textures the minimum requirement is 768mb and recommended is 1gb

Everyone, don't make me prove that this game can run perfectly fine with 768mb. at max settings again :P Even slightly better than a card with 1.5gb of vram.........a 580 for example

A 500MB video card, is enough to play without the DX11 patch...

My actual card has 768Mb vram, and I can run C2 just fine. (without DX11 and not everything on extreme -.-)

I don't know if it does help, but I "told" the game how much vram and ram I have...

Code:
sys_budget_sysmem "6144"
sys_budget_videomem "768"
in my autoexec. And the commands are accepted. but I don't know if they actually have an impact on something....

@coolguycooldude

You have the same card as me, and you have almost the same oc xD

You guys seem to not understand me, max settings with Dx11 on Ultra, i get avg 45 FPS, its bullocks that you need 1gb to handle this game smoothly.

Video RAM is stored in system RAM as well but the second one is not as fast.

yeah, for that game it may be too mutch, but it wouldn't stop me from getting a card that'll last longer, for newer games etc.

1Gb is recommended not "needed". People with lower amounts of vram might suffer from slight pauses and having fast main ram will help. If the game is having to go to main ram because it's ran out of vram, then it will not run optimal.

The game doesn't use high levels of AA either so it won't eat into your vram with postmsaa.

Stick to subject brah, he asks how much Vram is needed, i can prove only 768 is.
