How much info is too much info.

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 3:49 am

If you're like me you've read, and re-read, all of the articles, interviews, videos and such that contain Skyrim info....and I'm hungry for more. Despite my desire for more informatin, I'm struck by the realization that the greater the information released the less we get to discover on our own come November. So, I'm curious to hear your views on how much info is too much info...is there such a thing? Where is the line drawn between too little and too much? What do you think?

The entire storyline, all exploits, and the name of a random Bosmer in the game.

That depends entirely upon the information received. If we're talking game mechanics, I don't think it'd ultimately make much difference. It'd just mean that you'll have a better understanding of how the game works so you can jump right into it that much faster. If we're talking world and story, then yeah, I can see it being too much.

I followed the run up to Oblivion's release, and It didn't ruin the game for me in any way.

Can't speak for everyone, though. :obliviongate:

Hmm... I don't want any plot details. But I don't mind if they talk about magic armor, etc.

I've rather have 0 information on the storyline and game world. I want it to be a new and fresh experience, as it should.
Game mechanics..meh..who cares. I'd read info about it, but I'm not really info hungry. I'm content with what we know, and waiting until the game comes out.

Actually i was a little sad that i heard about the event where you get to know that you are dragonborn in the Q&A but i'll live.

Only thing i dont like about the leaked information is that im pissing my self because of the sheer antisipation i have for this game. Im gonna jump up and down the day it ships.. All like a black woman in total house make over.

If I got no more information until the game came out, I'd be fine. Honestly, I feel like I know a little bit too much already.

All I want is to see a short video of your typical battle so any more than that.

Better stay away during E3 then.

I would like to see a video of a short dungeon romp or something. That would make me very happy.

We'll most definitely see a demo at E3. Its their only real chance before 11-11-11.

Well, like I said in my first post, as long as it's not core storyline information or game world information, I'll watch it. I'll watch a few teaser vids about combat, sure. But if it has anything to do with the storyline, you better bet I wont be watching it. :)

I would like info on game mechanics and the new graphics, technology, etc. that they are implementing in Skyrim. Anything specific, like plot, specific places, or dungeons should be left out.

I'd be okay with: Higher armors are now sprinkled around and not worn by bandits.

What I'd read but be a bit miffed that I knew before discovering: A full suit of indoril armor is on display in a dunmer's house and can be stolen, there's also pieces hidden in other places.

stuff I don't want them to post cause I would read it: Full list of armor and weapons sets.

Besides, there's a very big difference between watching and experiencing.

True. I'm sure if we get any video during E3 it will show some of the gameworld though.

Yeah, the only thing I'm scared of though, is watching E3 videos and it being amazing, just great, and then the Oblivion saga kicks in, where the gameplay trailers are absolutely nothing like actual gameplay. I'm not going to link it, everyone has seen it, but the video regarding the Dunmer and Imperial talking just makes me laugh, because the game is nothing like that.
I'm sure it wont happen, but man, I hope it doesn't.

I take it you're interested in armor?

Since the GI guys and other mags saw the Bleak Falls cave, i'm sure we'll see some dungeon gameplay before release.

I also thoroughly disagree, and the more detailed and specific the previews become, the less attention I shall pay them. I want to discover most things for myself.
