How much should ESO Cost?

Post » Tue Feb 11, 2014 5:02 pm

Was just wondering what other think about the cost of the game and what option they think ZeniMax should do.

I read that as only 15 a month cost and no opening price.

I would also say fine as is, or slightly lower first buy price.

As i said in another thread cost is too high specially for people who use weaker currencies than Euros and US Dollars and i think 60 euros for the base game without any sub + a in-game store should recoup the cost, or charge us in our currency and that will never happen :D.

Here in Australia we pay 120 dollars for the Digital IE version, I'm not complaining. But the way Americans in general complain about cost when we're paying 2 times as much for the retail version, It doesn't make sense to me.

Let's pick them apart shall we?

1. This is the way it's currently is I think? Buy and then pay 15/month. No meetings about how to squeeze more money from the store and devs can focus on creating content that they want in the game.

2. GW2 style I think? Weekly meetings between devs, marketing and finance about what they should put in the store that will make people pay through their nose.

3. This sounds unviable completely. Free to play without a store?

4. I've seen a few of these around. Daily meetings between devs, marketing and finance, discussing what stuff to put in the store next to make people pay through their nose.

Free to play is only free to play because other people are paying for it. And because they want as much money as possible, the only "content" you will get is stuff that you need to pay for. Once in a blue moon you'll get actual gameplay.

I'm happy to pay £9 a month. The quality is there for me.

I have edited the third option. sorry about confusion.

I am willing to pay the $15 / month . In fact i hope it is because it keeps the content nice . And i am just wanted to find out what others thought.

Thanks

Ah its all cool. I was just saying and i also agree that there is way too much complaining going on about the price. All the complaining is actually the reason i made this poll to try and get a idea what others are thinking about the costs.

Thanks,

Afor

You realize that this game will still have an in-game real money store right? even with the sub.

I did not realize this. I actually thought that by paying a subscription that it means no in-game real money store.

Wow if this is true it may make the game a Pay to Win game which means i will be the first to leave the game.

No it won't make the game pay to win, but it's just an extra way to milk you to put services like name change, realm transfer, mounts, cool looking items that will not affect in-game stats in a store just like F2P games.

It's not getting old. it's already old.

Dear OP, and those like the op, get a job. If you all have a job already, and $15 per month is too much for you, then consider taking a cheaper hobby - like hiking, or going to your public library - something that doesn't require any money, because $15 per month for a hobby like this is as cheap as you're going to find.

You realize that this game will still have an in-game real money store right? even with the sub.

Source? I wouldn't be surprised if this is true - even WoW has this nowadays. It svcks, but it's a reality.

Well I bought the ICE, so that decision is made. I don't mind the $14.95 a month but I'd like to get a year for say $100 - $125 as a bulk buy.

If anything got old it's that kind of comment, as i mentioned in about 3 threads before not everyone live in the US or Europe and actually pay $15\month. You don't know how it feels like and you will never know until you get to pay $150 a month for a video game subscription.

Well if they make the store like a services and cool looking clothing store then i would not have a issue as long as it is not a perk store.

This is very true. $15 a month is less then going to the movies lol

Yea if it could be $15 / Month with the option to buy multiple months at a time at a discounted price will be the best way for this to game to go.

I'm fine with 15 bucks a month, but if I were them i'd try something like 5 to 10 bucks a month with the initial 60 bucks for the game.
